• Terminal academic doctoral degree from a regionally accredited
institution (RD acceptable) is required, Ph.D. or equivalent is
preferred

Professor of Practice positions are non-tenure track with three
year renewable appointments, although they do have a pathway to
advance in rank. The position carries an expectation of remaining
current in the field through professional activity and continuing
professional education. Service to the school, University, and
community are also requirements for the position. Business outreach
efforts will also be involved. Teaching requirements will consist
of courses in Finance at the undergraduate, MBA, and MSM levels,
primarily Principles, Investments, Corporate Finance, and Financial
Institutions and Markets. The normal teaching load is 24 semester
hours per academic year.

Responsibilities
• Assumes full management responsibility of all police
operations, including crime prevention, public safety, and traffic
enforcement; recommend and administer policies and procedures
• Manages or coordinates the selection, field and ongoing

representative with other law enforcement agencies, the City of
Indianapolis, and the adjoining neighborhoods and neighborhood

• Coordinates within the UIPD all parking services and security
for special events on campus with other University departments
• Provides oversight of the management of parking and the
processing of parking citations of the University of
Indianapolis
• Provides guidance to the campus emergency plan and direction
for the emergency planning committee.
• Assures maintenance of all department equipment assets
• Coordinates with University Facilities personnel to ensure all
physical facilities of the University are locked and unlocked, as
necessary
• Prepares reports, studies, and audits of the department and
personnel when requested
• Regulates signs at the parking sites, overseeing the collection
and appeal of parking fines, and determining policy about parking
procedures at the University of Indianapolis

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Indiana Law Enforcement Academy graduate or the equivalent
• 10 years of law enforcement experience and at least 3 years of
experience in police administration and/or at least 3 years of
supervising a specialized law enforcement department unit or
division
• Possession of a valid driver’s license, and meet the
University’s driving policy expectations
• Extensive knowledge of State, Federal, and local statutes, and
compliance requirements
• Appropriate safety and emergency training experience
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal
skills
