Department Description

The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) provides emergency medical care to approximately 150,000 patients annually at the UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals at Mission Bay and Oakland and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. DEM administrative and research staff supports the work of 80 full-time faculty, 70+ part-time attendings, a residency program, fellowship programs and over 300 housestaff and students each year. Position description

The iCyPhy Center at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications at the Assistant Researcher, Associate Researcher, or Full Researcher levels, depending on experience in architectures and design, modeling, and analysis techniques for cyber-physical systems.

The mission is to conduct and lead research in the iCyPhy Research Center at UC Berkeley, which focuses on industrial cyber-physical systems with a particular emphasis on software technologies for distributed, concurrent, real-time, and safety-critical software. The iCyPhy Research Center is housed in the College of Engineering at UC Berkeley and particularly seeks to cultivate a diverse and inclusive community of students and professional researchers.

The job duties and responsibilities include developing and leading an independent research program in the iCyPhy areas of focus. Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, supervising student projects, writing and publishing academic papers, publishing open-source software, preparing research grant proposals, recruiting and interacting with industrial sponsors, and interacting with and coordinating international collaborators.

Departmental Overview

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR), increases
support for and enhances knowledge of UC Berkeley through
communications, public outreach, and fundraising. UDAR is
responsible for fundraising and donor engagement, and works to
strengthen unit development offices by consulting and partnering
with campus fundraisers. UDAR also handles a range of central
activities and services encompassing events, communications,
stewardship, prospect development, gift management, database
management, and more.

The Major Gifts team within UDAR works to secure philanthropic
support among University alumni, parents, and friends across a
range of geographical regions with a focus on gifts in the $100,000
to $10 million range. Geographically, the regional areas of focus
are Southern California, the Greater Bay Area, and the East Coast.
There are 18 staff on the Major Gifts team including one deputy
director and two senior directors who oversee each of the three
regions, as well as gift officers and professional administrative
staff.

Position Overview

The Major Gifts Operations Director is a new
leadership position that will report directly to the Executive
Director of Major Gifts. The Operations Director is charged with
ensuring that the UDAR Major Gifts team operates more efficiently
and effectively. This position will help realize the Executive
Director's vision of building a data driven and inclusive culture.
The Operations Director will also support the Executive Director
and the broader team with emerging needs. This position will
primarily be an internally facing leader with a high degree of
knowledge in the fund development field. The Director is expected
to plan, organize, and direct complex large-scale projects that
include multiple stakeholders while also navigating the challenges
associated with working in a layered higher education
environment.

Responsibilities

Identify and implement data
strategies and technologies that improve the donor, volunteer and
staff experience
• Serve as a liaison and

the Major Gifts team internal recruitment and retention expert;

and simplify recruitment processes for major gifts hiring
managers
• Build and
implement onboarding and offboarding processes that are unique to
the team while ensuring that they incorporate and complement the
UDAR HR procedures
• Take the
lead on implementing morale building ideas and activities that keep
staff connected and motivated

work by acting on our DEIBJ Strategic Plan
• Take the
lead on cascading the recommendations from the UDAR DEIBJ working
groups to the major gifts team writ large in a meaningful and

initiatives, learning opportunities and culture building activities
year-round
• Support the
major gifts team hiring managers and their respective search
committees by continually providing fresh DEIBJ resources and best
practices so that we attract a deeper and more diverse candidate

Improve decision-making and align
resources with priorities
• Help ensure
that major gifts staff adopt decision making tools and use these
tools consistently to make strategic and timely decisions
• Train and
cascade decision making frameworks to staff at all levels of the
major gifts organization
• Map human
capital and budget allocations to team and UDAR priorities to
ensure alignment

Required Qualifications
• Minimum 4 to 8 years of experience serving as an advanced
administrative operations professional
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience demonstrating advanced
knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations
concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques
• Ability to breakdown complex systems and protocols into
digestible pieces for key decision makers and stakeholders
• Exceptional project management skills
• Outstanding analytical and problem solving capabilities
• Able to make higher order decisions and recommendations that
have broad, long term implications
• Ability to independently research best practices in a variety
of arenas and introduce and adapt those ideas to achieve team
goals

Departmental Overview

The College of Engineering at UC Berkeley is recognized for its educational and research excellence, consistently ranking among the top three engineering colleges in the United States. With more than 220 regular faculty members, 2,100 graduate students and 3,200 undergraduate students located in seven academic departments, Engineering is the second largest college on the Berkeley campus. A multiunit Dean's Office provides administrative, student services, development and capital projects services. CoE occupies 12 buildings on the Berkeley campus and has extensive facilities at the Richmond Field Station.

The Department of Integrative Biology offers a program of instruction that focuses on the integration of structure and function that influences the biology, ecology, and evolution of organisms. It investigates integration at all levels of organization from molecules to the biosphere and in all branches of the tree of life: plants, animals, fungi, and microbes.

The department draws from many traditional and emerging fields and levels of biological organization in forging new research directions and answering traditional questions in new ways. The faculty has special strengths in the disciplines of functional morphology, organismal physiology, animal behavior, biomechanics, ecology, systematic biology, paleobiology, population genetics, and evolution.

Responsibilities

Departmental Overview

The UC Berkeley Disabled Students' Program (DSP') is one of the oldest disabled student offices in the nation. The campus, considered the home of the Disability Rights/ Independent Living Movement, is the flagship institution for the University of California system. The ED supervises several programs, approximately 50 full time staff, and as many as 400 volunteers and student employees, within the umbrella of DSP, to ensure academic access for approximately 5,000 disabled students and support faculty by significantly facilitating the interactive process. The unit has an annual operating budget of approximately $4.1 million. DSP also has responsibility for fiscally managing a Department of Education TRIO Student Support Services federal grant. The UC Berkeley DSP Executive Director works in a challenging and complex environment, together with faculty and other campus partners, to uphold the civil rights of disabled students and the university's reputation for excellence in teaching, research, and equity.

The DSP Executive Director provides vision and leadership for the campus: innovating, implementing andevolving programming that is crucial to the success of both students and faculty in the classroom and beyond. The ED must both manage the operations of DSP, and build and sustain collaborative relationships across campus with faculty, staff and student leaders. The ED is crucial in helping the campus address the intersectional needs of the disabled community at Berkeley-Almost two in five (37%) DSP students have at least 4 marginalizations/minoritizations (across gender, sexuality, race/ethnicity, disability, and class). The ED is also responsible for coordinating response to the needs of an expanding population of students with disabilities, including disabled veterans (wounded warriors), neurodivergent students, and students with psychological and learning disabilities. The ED oversees communication and coordination with subject matter experts in various disabilities, Disability Access and Compliance, UHS, Auxiliary Services, Alternative Media Center, the AIM student service system, Campus Test Proctoring Services, and extramural grant programs for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Internal Leadership:
• Provides leadership, direction, and vision for DSP staff and stakeholders in the provision of a broad spectrum of compliance-based legally mandated services and accommodations for students with disabilities.
• Provides leadership, direction, and vision for Student Services staff in the provision of student services beyond compliance for students with disabilities (SWD) including TRIO SSS-D, Career Services, the Disability Cultural Center, Autism Spectrum Services, DSP Learning Specialist, and Student Development for students with disabilities. Internal operationalization of this vision and direction is delegated to the Deputy Director at the ED's discretion.
• Makes strategic decisions that are aligned with the mission, goals, and values of the campus, the Division of Equity and Inclusion (E&I) and the Disabled Students' Program (DSP). Engages in ongoing efforts to improve business processes and practices, including technology and promptness of service provision.
• Conceptualizes, ensures implementation, and oversees new DSP and Student Services programs and initiatives.
• In partnership with the leadership team, works with DSP department managers and supervisors to create and maintain a positive office climate for staff and increase staff collaboration within the department and units.
• In partnership with the Deputy Director, arranges training on leadership for all department managers and supervisors.
Supervision and Management:
• Oversees the management team (Senior Associate Director, Associate/Assistant Directors, and Business Operations Coordinator) of multiple service units, including compliance services and accommodations units (DSP).
• Works closely with DSP's management team to develop priorities for the Program and conduct project management. Establishes short- and long-term programmatic goals and objectives and communicates them widely to all staff to ensure collaboration within the unit.
• Participates in campus Emergency Planning and assists with the development of protocol for assessing and meeting the needs of students with disabilities during crisis events.
• Oversees the collection and analysis of data to evaluate student success (including disabled student enrollment, retention, and progression through degree programs) and faculty related services.
• Submits annual reports on program effectiveness and budget needs to Equity and Inclusion and campus stakeholders, to the Office of the President, and the federal Department of Education, among others.
• Coordinates and manages DSP and Student Services outreach efforts to campus and students in a variety of venues, including DSP Orientation.
• Conducts bi-weekly meetings with managers and supervisors to allow for collaborative problem solving and transparency.
Service Orientation:
• Develops systems and processes that serve students, staff, and faculty.
• Understands how the services of DSP fit into the Division and the campus.
• Focuses on providing excellent service.
• Develops new services, both compliance and non-compliance, to meet the emerging and intersectional needs and increase the enrollment and retention rate of students with disabilities at Berkeley.
Campus Leadership, Collaboration, and Outreach:
• Establishes effective relationships on and off campus.
• Internally, guides DSP's relations with the campus community, disseminating information about programs and services and building strong relationships with all constituencies.
• Works closely with campus counsel to ensure that campus programs are accessible to students with disabilities and to ensure compliance with federal and state law and address appeals.
• Works closely with academic leaders and Academic Senate related to faculty issues, cultural change related to disability and student affairs.
• Works closely with University Health Services (UHS) on being responsive to emerging needs that arise around matters of disability access and equity.
• Helps instructors, faculty members, department chairs and deans understand and successfully implement accommodations for students with disabilities.
• Works with the E&I Division to increase campus awareness and knowledge of enhancing belonging and access for the intersectional needs of our disability community.
• Works with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to set policies and practices to identify applicants with disabilities who are likely to succeed at Berkeley; collaborates with the Financial Aid Office to set policies and practices to ensure that students with disabilities receive appropriate financial assistance.
• Serves as a consultant to the campus administration on the needs of students with disabilities.
Communications and External Relations:
• Serves as the DSP point of contact for media and is on call for DSP during emergencies and urgent situations that will impact students with disabilities.
• The ED serves as the primary liaison between DSP and the campus administration, deans, chairs, etc.
• Represents UC Berkeley DSP to national and statewide organizations including AHEAD, COE, WESTOP, UC Directors meetings and other groups.
• Provides outreach to advocacy-, service-, and disability-based non- profit, charitable, and governmental organizations; conducts and/or arranges for staff training and development.
• Consults with scholars and visitors from universities in the United States and other countries concerning the development of services for college students with disabilities; makes presentations at regional and national conferences.
Oversight of Accommodations for Disabled Students (DSP compliance):
• Oversees the provision of a range of legally-mandated and best practice, curricular and co-curricular services to students with disabilities.

• The ED will work with the Deputy Director to ensure smooth transition plans to a centralized DSP Building in Dwinelle Annex and a new location for our Proctoring Services in Hearst Field Annex.
• Works with other building occupants in maintaining and improving space.
Policy Development.
• Provides direction for the campus, with campus counsel and faculty leadership in: developing policies that apply in all instructional settings for the provision of academic accommodations and auxiliary services for students with disabilities.
• Establishes internal operational policies and practices to be followed in verifying documentation, determining students' eligibility, level of services to be provided, and other operating procedures.
• Participates in campus-wide and system-wide committees that impact policies and programs concerning students with disabilities.

Revenue Generation.

The UC Berkeley Parking and Transportation Department provides a full range of parking and transportation services, serving a diverse community of more than 35,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff in the City of Berkeley, at the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Campus Transit provides shuttle service to approximately 800,000 passengers on a annual basis. This position ensures that all of the daily scheduled routes are covered with properly trained drivers. This position is a driver backup, in case a driver is unable to perform his/her duties. This position will assist the Supervisor in scheduling and monitoring of staff.

The Lead Driver provides leadership to all drivers, Day Shift and Night Safety, and independently makes decisions in the absence of the Field Operation Supervisor. The Lead Driver monitors the activities of drivers, i.e. safe driving practices, schedule maintenance, customer service, equipment condition, and adherence to DOT, CVC, campus, and departmental rules and policies. The Lead Driver ensures that all drivers provide legible and accurate reports.

Responsibilities

Responsible for safely transporting passengers in various types of vehicles, on scheduled routes, between BART and campus locations.

Driving Leadership

Responsible for driver training which includes: wheelchair lift operation, how to perform mechanical and administrative check-in and check-out procedures incidental to safely driving assigned vehicles, driver job responsibilities, Behind the Wheel driver training on UCB specialized equipment and related forms, such as ridership tracking, accident reports, etc. Responsible for equipment and bus assignments. Ensures all routes are operating on time and operate within established time route schedules. Creates staff schedule and monitors attendance and quality of service. Responsible for coordinating the refueling, cleaning and/or washing bus interior, as needed, disposing of refuse from vehicle used for the shift, in the appropriate manner and receptacle, and turning-in lost items. Responsible for giving traffic directions and special instructions to drivers for passenger transport to and from various points on the UCB campus. Operates two-way radios per FCC and departmental regulations and ensures compliance by drivers. Enforces, adheres to and complies with all federal, state and university regulations and ensures compliance by drivers. Responds appropriately to emergency situations.

Operational Support

Acts as liaison between Transit Operations and the Police Department's Night Safety Service representatives. Provides relief for drivers during Night Safety Service breaks. Acts as backup driver to transport passengers in various type buses, on scheduled routes between BART and the Campus, Hearst Mining Circle and Space Sciences Labs, ASUC, University Hall, Night Safety Service, inter-campus and/or intra-campus routes. Responsible for compiling ridership and mileage information into daily reports. Ensures that all daily required reports are being completed by drivers, legibly and accurately. Scheduled to function as the Lead Driver on Saturday night, but must be available for backup driver duty on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday nights, in case of planned or unplanned absences. When used as a backup driver on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday night, do not work on Saturday night.

Customer Service Standards

Oversees transit operation, includes managing all routes, night safety shuttle, game day shuttles, and special requests. Following department Procedure/Safety as trained and provides services with safety in mind at all times. Proficiency in use of tools, equipment and other materials necessary to accomplish duties. Demonstrates understanding of position requirements, department procedures, objectives, duties and responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

Ability to operate automatic and manual transmission buses. Experience coordinating schedules and resources, and maintaining equipment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and internet. Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role. Passenger experience. HS Diploma or GED equivalency.

Preferred Qualifications

Class B license. Passenger transportation endorsement. Air brake certification.

(Innovations for Youth (i4Y) at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health, is a cross-disciplinary, innovative research hub addressing issues of youth equity through collaborative research, training and community engagement. Youth and Allies against Homelessness (YAAH) is a youth-engaged research group focused on describing and addressing the social determinants of health of youth experiencing homelessness (YEH) Led by Prof. Auerswald who has conducted community and youth-engaged research regarding YEH for 26 years, YAAH is staffed by graduate, undergraduate, and paid community youth interns, all of whom have lived experience of homelessness or have demonstrated deep commitment to marginalized youth. Will be well versed in Active Directory GPO’s/Computer & Users/Objects/Permissions/OU/Groups as well as Powershell and other scripting tools. Have experience with O365, print servers, shared drives/OneDrive and Server OS configuration. Have knowledge of various Endpoint Management tools, and is a great team player with communication skills to match.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Implement and manage server support systems including MECM (SCCM), WSUS, BigFix, Druva, InTune, JAMF Pro and Enterprise Anti-Virus Endpoint Protection.
• Maintain Active Directory: Objects, GPO, Permissions, etc.
• Produce and maintain host-based firewall policies for ITS and supported departments computers.
• Creates complex scripts to accomplish work-related tasks.
• Provides strategic input to system design/redesign, development, deployment efforts with MECM/InTune for the UC San Diego IT community.
• Install, configure, maintain and administer Windows/macOS gold images to provide essential services for ITS and supported departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong experience and knowledge in the use of Microsoft and other device management systems - MECM (SCCM), InTune, JAMF Pro and BigFix Endpoint Services.
• Strong knowledge and experience with design, development and deployment of MECM (SCCM) / InTune.
• Experience and knowledge in the use of Druva inSync, and Enterprise Anti-Virus Endpoint Protection.
• Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
• Demonstrated experience writing and editing complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with providing day-to-day operations as a lead with a technical team. Keeping track of projects/timelines and providing reports as needed to management* Experience with ITIL foundation* Experience with Lean Six Sigma yellow belt and above

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $63,400 - $142,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.36 - $68.39
