The Communication Coordinator is a key position on the communications team and plays a vital role informing the community about GMUL, or goals, outcomes, and opportunities for individuals to improve their lives.

This position requires a highly-skilled individual who is motivated by accepting new challenges and enjoys working collaboratively, but who is also comfortable working independently. Key job responsibilities:
• Ability to assist in the execution of the GMUL Marketing & Communications plan.
• Creation and execution of a comprehensive GMUL social media campaign, aligned to the marketing plan and reflective of GMUL branding standards. This includes the development of weekly, monthly, quarterly campaigns, including any paid or sponsored campaigns.
• Creation and development of engaging daily social media posts promoting GMUL programs and events.
• Development of metrics to measure the effectiveness of GMUL social media efforts and the ability to adjust the social media campaign, as needed. Development of monthly, quarterly, and annual social media engagement reports to the Director of Communication
• Work in collaboration with program and advocacy staff to develop a monthly calendar of programs and events to be featured on social media and the GMUL website
• Maintain the GMUL website, including the creation of page content, addition of photos, images, and other materials as determined by the Director of Communication. Weekly review and removal of outdated materials in collaboration with other departments
• Work collaboratively with the GMUL website consultant regarding changes to the key elements of the GMUL website
• Assistance in the creation of monthly newsletters, broadcast emails, and other marketing materials using current digital communication platforms/tools
• Creation of GMUL flyers, brochures, and graphics following the brand standards and guidelines developed by the GMUL graphic communication consultant and adhering to National Urban League brand standards
• Take photographs at GMUL events and programs
• Maintain a database of all GMUL photographs
• Support the work of GMUL consultants working on event or other special projects or programs
• Support GMUL leadership, at the direction of the Director of Communication, with communication needs
• Other communication or communication-related duties as assigned
• May be required to work nights or weekends to attend GMUL-related events

Key qualifications:
• Minimum of an associate degree in digital marketing, communication, or journalism, or a related field. A combination of experience, plus successful completion of digital marketing, communication, or social media classes, may be considered.
• Experience working professionally for 1-3 years managing and maintaining social media, website, and broadcast email platforms.
• Demonstrated experience writing for digital and print platforms.

• Advanced experience developing and executing social media campaigns*
• Advanced experience using WIX to update and manage websites *
• Advanced experience utilizing InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe, and other programs in the Microsoft Creative Suite*

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW

Under the direction of the Employment Services Manager, the Career Coach is responsible for assessing and addressing barriers to employment. The Career Coach will provide available resource information that is offered in the community and at the Greater Milwaukee Urban League – GMUL; develop an employment service plan and is responsible for "job-matching" activities. The Career Coach will maintain communication with the Employment Services Manager and client and to ensure coordination of employment services. The Career Coach may act as a liaison between the client, employer, training vendors and other related community-based organizations. The Career Coach also manages the referral, recommended training opportunities and follow-up with clients and employers.

Role and Responsibilities

· Provide Case Management support to assist participants in identifying and eliminating barriers that can interfere with job acquisition and retention.

· Develops client profile, case files for clients and document in systems of record.

· Record/document clients’ program activities, supportive services and agency’s efforts in system of record.

· Maintain updated documented client data in the designated electronic management data system.

· Co- Case Manage with Education and Career Coach to establish educational needs, career assessments and other relates educations sources to assist with matching the participant with t employment.

· Works directly with education and employment staff and partners.

· Assist with the coordination of employment related events/activities: Career/Resource/Job Fairs.

· Build a relationship with participants in order to build bridges to future long term job retention.

· Develop an Employability Plan including timelines for each client.

· Collect employment verifications from employers, participants and/or services.

· Assessments client’s career path, employment, vocational and placement stability.

· Researches jobs, industry requirements, and worker characteristics to determine job functions and worker traits.

· Provides career counseling and perform follow-up and with clients and employers during the hiring process and job search activities and match client training, experience and qualifications with available job openings.

· Performs retention activities during post-employment to ensure successful job match and removal of barriers.

· Collaborate with other community-based organizations, employers and another related workforce/employment entities.

· Monitors and stay abreast of changes and trends in the economic market and report information to management for projections of future employment opportunities, job development, and training programs. Maintains awareness of local employers, their market share, and methods of service, reputations, benefits, and wage levels.

· Attend meetings, conferences and workshops as assigned, performs special projects and other related duties as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree required with preference in the following field of studies: Social science, Criminal Justice, Social work and/or Human Services or other related field of study.

· At least two years of professional experience in job development, job placement, case management
