URI is a global network of interfaith partners and more than 1,150 “cooperation circles” (CCs) in more than 110 countries. To form a CC requires seven people from at least three different faiths or traditions agreeing to work together on local challenges related to issues such as community development, climate action, interfaith dialogue, and peacebuilding. POSITION SUMMARY

The URI Development and Marketing Associate is responsible for recruiting and engaging individual membership, annual fundraising campaign, special online community events, and overall marketing and outreach. The Development and Marketing Associate will help URI meet annual fundraising goals and coordinate logistics for URI’s annual fundraising event in San Francisco - Circles of Light - building and motivating a volunteer committee. The Development and Marketing Associate will assist in establishing 3-5 small private cultivation events each year designed to diversify support, engage new potential major donors, and increase local media visibility. An innovative, creative, and proactive professional, this individual will report to the Director of Development and Outreach and work closely with the communication team and URI executive leadership.

PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Marketing Individual Membership Program (50%)

· Works closely with the Director of Development and Outreach on online social media campaigns to increase individual membership and expand the visibility of URI to attract new donors.

· Collaborates with the senior team, marketing firm, and global URI network attract and engage grassroots Individual Members (IM).

· Assists in ongoing digital and print communication, including writing copy for online campaigns; promoting URI in social media; and participating in the design of the annual report.

· Supports senior team, executive director, and marketing firm in the creation and implementation of marketing campaigns and communication strategies to attract new individual members to URI.

· Energizes URI individual members to participate actively with new learning curriculum, interfaith service opportunities, and activist programming in coordination with the Learning Team.

· Connects the IM program with the broader global URI community so that all members feel part of the growing URI global community.

· Expands online connectivity and relationship building among individuals across the URI network.

· Consults with the Partnership team to propose and engage potential new partners who can help increase URI visibility, credibility, and outreach.

Special Events (20%)

· Assists in the coordination of all aspects of Circles of Light Gala, including committee meetings, development of the gala budget, invitations, program, decorations, etc.; liaises with venue and other vendors; manages ticket and table sales and table assignments; and performs other duties that emerge.

· Supports a series of community calls and Circles of Light events.

· Develops and oversees event follow up, including mail solicitation campaign.

Annual Fundraising (30%)

· Oversees all functions of up-to-date and accurate donor database management.

· Acknowledges contributions in a timely manner, including personalized thank-you letters, working closely with development team members.

· Ensures accurate files and drafting of correspondence for all major annual donors.

· Reconciles donor records with the general ledger on a monthly basis.

· Helps with research on major donor prospects.

· Maintains and generates mailing lists for newsletters and annual reports; facilitates mailings with printing vendor; coordinates a central file of donor records of correspondence (hard and online copy).

· Enters new contacts provided by executive leadership and others into Salesforce and works closely with the Director of Development and Outreach to implement timely and regular follow-up with new contacts and donor prospects.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Creative and innovative professional with a strong vision and ability to take the lead in the development and execution of “activist” engagements and programming for the Individual Membership program.

· Knowledge of communications and marketing strategies and tactics, with experience using all forms of social media for public engagement.

· Experience with best practices for membership acquisition, growth, and retention.

· Resilient team player with sense of humor and ability to connect personally and listen authentically.

· Tech-savvy and curious:

o Required: MS Office, Google Suite, Adobe Photoshop or Canva, Facebook, and Instagram.

o Preferred: Salesforce CRM, Drupal or WordPress, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

o Learning: AI applications and opportunities to leverage and amplify communications

· Intrinsically motivated proactive professional committed to interfaith cooperation and social justice.

· B.A. or equivalent experience required.

· Previous experience in fundraising and managing special events.

· Preferred experience in annual gifts and planned giving programs.

· Excellent English writing, editing, proofreading, analytical, and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to work under deadline pressure, driving projects through to successful completion.

· Discretion and confidentiality in dealing with donor information.

· Willingness to work remotely with flexible schedule and minimum direct supervision.

· Occasional travel and participation in evening and weekend events is expected.

Salary Range: $65K to $75K - commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Benefits: Full medical, dental, vision and chiropractic after first month; voluntary flexible spending account (FSA); two weeks vacation annually to start, plus 12 paid holidays. Matching 403b after one year of service.
