The successful candidate will launch and establish a general outpatient pediatric cardiology practice in Orange County, and also assist with acute care cardiology duties including echocardiography at the CHLA main campus location.
Candidates should be clinically trained in general pediatric cardiology, with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects. The preferred candidate should have a broad exposure to, and familiarity with the assessment of newborns, infants and children an inpatient setting, and also be familiar with general pediatric cardiology outpatient concerns, including post-operative follow up following surgical repair of congenital heart disease. Candidates should display excellent communication skills, technical ability and a willingness to participate in the increasingly utilized team-based-care approach in a community setting. A strong working knowledge of non-invasive imaging, and the ability to perform echocardiography independently is also a requirement for this role. Ability to perform and interpret fetal echocardiography will be an advantage, but a dedicated prior fellowship in non-invasive imaging is not a requirement for this role.
This position will include inpatient cardiology acute care duties at CHLA and any affiliate locations. This will include weekend and night on-call responsibilities to be shared on a rotating basis. On site and remote echocardiography interpretation duties serving the CHLA campus will also be a requirement. Development of teaching modules, and delivery of education to residents fellows and other multi-level learners is a requirement of the profile of this position.

The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern... California (USC) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Pediatrics in the Division of Cardiology, are actively seeking a full-time faculty member for the position of General (Community-Based) Pediatric Cardiologist at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Clinician Educator). The successful candidate will launch and establish a general outpatient pediatric cardiology practice in Orange County, and also assist with acute care cardiology duties including echocardiography at the CHLA main campus location.
Candidates should be clinically trained in general pediatric cardiology, with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects. The preferred candidate should have a broad exposure to, and familiarity with the assessment of newborns, infants and children an inpatient setting, and also be familiar with general pediatric cardiology outpatient concerns, including post-operative follow up following surgical repair of congenital heart disease. Candidates should display excellent communication skills, technical ability and a willingness to participate in the increasingly utilized team-based-care approach in a community setting. A strong working knowledge of non-invasive imaging, and the ability to perform echocardiography independently is also a requirement for this role. Ability to perform and interpret fetal echocardiography will be an advantage, but a dedicated prior fellowship in non-invasive imaging is not a requirement for this role.
This position will include inpatient cardiology acute care duties at CHLA and any affiliate locations. This will include weekend and night on-call responsibilities to be shared on a rotating basis. On site and remote echocardiography interpretation duties serving the CHLA campus will also be a requirement. Development of teaching modules, and delivery of education to residents fellows and other multi-level learners is a requirement of the profile of this position.

The Adolescent Medicine program offers unique opportunities around reproductive health and gender care. Additionally, support for protected time can be provided for candidates with an interest or expertise in clinical/translational research. We currently have 14 faculty and over 100 staff and trainees participating in programs ranging from Homeless care, HIV prevention and care, gender affirmation program, mental health and substance use services, and a transition care program. We are also a LEAH funded educational site.
The new Eating Disorder Program at CHLA is being designed by an interdisciplinary team of leaders from USC and CHLA including Adolescent Medicine, psychiatry, psychology, nutrition, nursing, and social work. The program will start with the creation of an outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment program and the enhancement of our current inpatient refeeding program. Initially this position will dedicate 60% effort to the Eating Disorders program. Candidates will have the opportunity to leverage other interests for the remaining level of effort. The Adolescent Medicine program offers unique opportunities around reproductive health and gender care. Additionally, support for protected time can be provided for candidates with an interest or expertise in clinical/translational research. Candidates with appropriate education experience will have opportunity for leadership in our training programs.
