Main Purpose of Job

POSITION DUTIES
The
Director of Education & Outreach (DEO) manages all aspects of the Agency’s
outreach and community relations efforts in order to promote the agency’s
mission, educate the public, make inroads to under-served and under-represented
populations and build effective partnerships with community, government,
business and advocacy groups statewide.
The DEO position includes but is not limited to designing, developing and
managing all educational and outreach services and programming related to the
Agency including operating procedures, training design and delivery, outreach
design and delivery, agency event planning, supervision of Education and Outreach Unit staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three years of professional experience in both the planning and conducting of training related to diversity and inclusion, intergroup relations, conflict resolution, professional development, legal and administrative compliance, and other human relations disciplines.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute a Master's Degree for one year of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute a Doctorate Degree for two years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute additional professional work experience in human relations, civil rights, legal, community relations, law enforcement, personnel, counseling or social work involving interviewing, investigating or interrogating others on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
3. Comfort and experience working with diverse populations.
Event planning or coordination experience is a plus.

The incumbent serves as the Director of the CSSBMB, and in coordination with the General Counsel of the USCCR and provides legal services, counsel, recommendations, reviews and opinions regarding all functions and activities of CSSBMB. Reviews proposed legislation, regulations, and policies on legal matters. Prepares written documents including memoranda, reports, advisory opinions, and implementation recommendations. The potential areas of legal service embrace all administrative and federal laws applicable to CSSBMB, including, but not limited to among other things, rulemakings and Administrative Procedures Act issues, including drafting Agency policies, appropriations/fiscal law, equal employment opportunity law, federal procurement, federal records management, Freedom of Information and Privacy Act matters, facilities and federal workplace matters, Federal ethics law, IT security.
