POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Mechanical Engineering Department at the United States Naval Academy invites applications for the Corbin A. McNeill Chair in Engineering commencing as early as Spring 2023. We are seeking someone that can facilitate connections and collaborations that advance our mission to develop engineering leaders. An ideal candidate is someone with an outstanding reputation and technical expertise in engineering or a closely related field. The appointee will have the opportunity to mentor midshipmen, teach classes, advise independent research and support senior design projects. An advanced degree in Engineering (or a closely related field) is preferred, a Ph.D. is not required.

This is a 10-month, gift-funded, federal excepted service position. This full-time, on-site position will have an initial appointment that will last one to two years, based on the needs of the Naval Academy and desires of the appointee. Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Minimum Qualifications (at time of application):
• Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications:
• An advanced degree in engineering or a closely related field
• High level technical leadership experience with the Federal Government, Industry, and/or Academia
• A desire to promote and inspire the development of midshipmen into competent technical professionals and leaders
