Experience in the classroom and small group learning settings with lecturing, active learning, and facilitating recitations and co-curricular activities are required. Core clinical service responsibilities include Parenteral Nutrition Service patient care and participation in the Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital Nutrition Subcommittee. The ability to work independently and with others in a team environment is a requirement. A commitment to diversity and inclusivity in working with students, faculty, staff, community members, and stakeholders is expected. Demonstrated ability or potential to produce scholarly activity in an academic setting in the form of peer-reviewed publications is essential. Candidates who have a PharmD, a record of peer-reviewed publications and evidence of funded grants are preferred.
Teaching: The Department Chair or designee will assign teaching responsibilities that may include didactic lecturing, experiential training, course directorship, and participating in various other teaching activities. The starting estimated per cent effort in teaching is 40%.
Scholarship: Develop, grow, and maintain national recognition in Pediatric Parenteral Nutrition through an active program of scholarship that includes peer-reviewed publications on a regular annual basis. Seek and apply for external funding. Presentations at national, regional, and local meetings are expected. The starting estimated percent effort in scholarship is 10%.
Service: Establish and maintain local, state, and national recognition in the field of Pediatric Parenteral Nutrition. Participate in College, Departmental, UTHSC Campus and hospital committees as deemed appropriate. The starting estimated percent effort in service is 10%.
Patient Care: Provide outstanding Pediatric Parenteral Nutrition pharmacy services and educate pharmacy residents. Starting estimated percent effort in patient care is 40%.
Successful candidates will hold a PharmD degree and have completed a Pediatric Pharmacy Residency or Fellowship, with extensive Pediatric Parenteral Nutrition experience or have at least 5 years of experience in Pediatrics with Pediatric Parenteral Nutrition. Candidates must be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Tennessee.

The Department of Preventive at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is seeking highly motivated applicants with well-documented expertise in obesity research to join a successful research program in a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant or Associate Professor position.
The Department of Preventive Medicine, with over 20 full-time faculty members, is a highly collaborative and transdisciplinary department that includes expertise in preventive medicine, biostatistics, epidemiology, behavioral research, community outreach, and clinical studies. UTHSC is a major medical and research center, with four campuses spanning the State of Tennessee, and employs more than 4,600 people on its faculty, staff, and not-for-profit corporation faculty practice groups.
This search is seeking candidates who conduct lifestyle intervention research with emphasis on Nutrition and/or Behavior Change. This position is based on the main UTHSC campus located in Memphis, TN. Obesity and its related comorbidities are highly prevalent in the Mid-South region, candidates who bring a successful and promising record of competitive research are highly preferred. Our organizational culture is highly collaborative, emphasizing multidisciplinary approaches to improving health.
Candidates who have a strong desire to collaborate with other faculty, community members and organizations, healthcare systems, and government agencies to develop, implement and test interventions to improve the health of communities most affected by obesity are encouraged to apply. The selected candidate will have numerous opportunities to initiate and lead ancillary studies with projects in the Department that include obesity, cardiovascular, cancer, dietary intake and physical activity outcomes data like the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) and Look AHEAD (a weight-loss study for individuals with diabetes). The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate on currently funded initiatives to address obesity including the “Managing Obesity by Leveraging Health Information Technology to Lower Cancer Risk.” Although this is primarily a research position, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the other missions of Department of Preventive Medicine through teaching, mentoring students, and departmental service. Qualifications:
• PhD, DrPH, MD or equivalent terminal degree in social/behavioral sciences, nutrition, epidemiology, exercise science, nursing and/or medicine with emphasis in obesity research.
• Preference will be given to candidates who hold a board certification/ licensure where applicable (i.e RD, LDN, NP, MD).
• Has a record of peer-reviewed publications and other scholarly activity.
• Has potential to obtain extramural funding (i.e., NIH R01 awards or equivalent)

The strongly collaborative and translational research environment across the UTHSC campus also reaches to neighboring universities and research institutions including Southern College of Optometry, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Charles Retina Institute, the Vitreoretinal Foundation, Independent Ophthalmic Consultants, Memphis Eye and Cataract Associates, Methodist University Hospital, the University Clinical Health, and the College of Pharmacy.
