The UTMB Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is seeking an Associate Division Chief for Research and Director of Cardiovascular Outcomes Research – The UTMB Division of Cardiovascular Medicine has embarked on an ambitious plan to invest in and grow outcomes & health services research to national prominence. Our large health system comprised of 5 hospitals and dozens of outpatient clinics across Southeast Texas provide numerous opportunities for research. Our newly established Center for Health-System Improvement (CHI), UTMB School of Public Health and CTSA provide methodological expertise and career development/KL2 opportunities. The position will collaborate with Pulmonary Sleep Medicine to build a comprehensive sleep program to address the growing need for sleep study services. The faculty of UTMB Department of Otolaryngology strive to provide the most contemporary, comprehensive, and multi-disciplinary care available to the community. The Department is fully supported by full-time clinically trained speech pathologist with specialties in head and neck cancer, voice, and management of tracheoesophageal prosthetics. This position entails opportunities to participate in all aspects of clinical practice, as well as resident and medical student teaching. The Molecular Genomics Core (MGC) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is an institutionally supported service-for-fee research core providing expertise and resources that are needed to advance scientific knowledge and discovery at the interface genomics and life sciences. We are seeking a new Director of the MGC, who will be responsible for overseeing operations as a central resource providing cutting-edge genomics and next generation sequencing (NGS) expertise to investigators across the institution. This individual will oversee all aspects of the core's operations, including the design and execution of research protocols, the management of budgets and personnel while working with cores users, including facilitating the dissemination of research findings to the scientific community. Department of Internal Medicine/Division of General Medicine seeks highly motivated candidates who are willing to establish or continue their careers as a faculty member in the Division of General Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at UTMB’s School of Medicine in Galveston, Texas. We seek candidates willing to excel in teaching, scholarly activities, clinical care, and service.

UTMB has open positions in each of three tracks, Academic Generalist (Hybrid), Academic Outpatient, and Academic Hospitalist.
• The Academic Generalist (Hybrid) opportunity utilizes a unique team-based approach to care and is based on the traditional model of inpatient service attending and outpatient clinic. Faculty, along with house staff, are assigned to one of three teams and patient care is kept within each team, in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. Outpatient Afterhours call is shared among all faculty, with a nurse triage line being the first point of contact. Afterhours call for the faculty occurs approximately two to three times a year for a week at a time.
• The Academic Outpatient Opportunity is based on a model of 9 sessions of private clinic per week plus one session of administrative/academic time, with no inpatient or weekend call duties. The Outpatient faculty will assist in the education of medical students who rotate through the private faculty clinics.
• The Academic Hospitalist Service is still in process, and we are planning on starting a Direct Patient Care Service in the Spring 2023. Currently, we envision the duties to include a direct patient care component and a surgical co-management service. We hope to include students and residents once a sustainable program has been established. Any interested candidates may submit their CV for consideration of hire this Spring.

Gastroenterology Faculty Opportunity
The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at UTMB is seeking a gastroenterologist at the associate professor level with clinical and research expertise in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Qualified candidates will have clinical expertise in treating patients with IBD. Preference will be given to candidates that have a strong track record of clinical, outcomes, or translational research in inflammatory bowel diseases. The candidate should be board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology and must have completed an ACGME accredited internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship program. The candidate will also have or be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Texas.

Income Package
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and educational background. Resources to establish their research program in IBD at UTMB are available to a well-qualified candidate. The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PCCSM) at UTMB invites applications for tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant and/or Associate Professor level. Applicants with a Master’s degree in public health, clinical science or a related field is preferred. Individuals with research interests and experience in outcomes research or implementation sciences are of particular interest. UTMB Health is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases, and through our clinical, educational, and research missions. We provide comprehensive diagnosis and management for a broad range of respiratory diseases, offer outstanding clinical care for patients with respiratory disorders, and serve as a resource to regional physicians who share in the care of patients with respiratory diseases. We offer comprehensive outpatient services throughout the area. Our three sleep laboratories are located on the Galveston and Angleton Danbury campuses, with another convenient center in Webster.

PCCSM Candidate Requirements - must possess an MD or equivalent degree and be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pulmonary and/or Critical Care medicine. The selected candidate must also be able to obtain an unrestricted State of Texas Medical license. The successful candidates will have an established interest in health services research, a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, and a desire to compete for extramural funding.
