The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that educates the students across the academic units, including Accounting, Economics, Industrial Psychology (Human Resources Management), Information Systems, Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), Institute for Social Development, Political Studies, School of Business & Finance, School of Government (including... Public Administration) and the Academic Literacies Programme.

An opportunity currently exists for candidates to apply for the positions of Faculty Officer to provide administrative support to the Faculty Office in respect of all Faculty administrative processes, in order to ensure alignment and compliance with central administrative systems and procedures; and to provide a professional support service to academics, students and staff.

Reporting to the Faculty Manager, the appointee’s duties will include, but not be limited to, the administration and execution of the following tasks:
• Academic Administration across the student life-cycle
• Marks Administration
• Enquiry Management
• Committee Administration
• Marketing, Branding and Student Recruitment
• Meeting and General Office Administration
• HR Administration
• Financial Administration

Successful applicants for this position will primarily focus on the following areas, but will overall be expected to perform the duties above as well, when and if requested:
• Academic Administration across the student life-cycle
• Committee Administration

Minimum Requirements

• A Degree or equivalent at NQF level 7
• At least three years relevant experience in a Higher Education environment
The following would be advantageous:
• Knowledge of university administrative systems
• Experience working as a Faculty Administrative Officer
• Experience with committee administration

Key competencies required:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• The ability to collaborate with various stakeholders
• Planning and organizing skills

The Infrastructure and Engineering department plays a pivotal role in the maintenance and improvement of the University’s infrastructure. We seek to employ skilled, knowledgeable and resourceful individuals to provide electrical maintenance services in respect of our various properties.

Reporting to the Foreman, the successful candidates will be required to:
• Assisting the artisan in the execution of his/her duties
• Assist in all electrical maintenance and execution of repairs
• Conduct site inspections and fault finding
• Provide feedback to the artisan and the client
• Electrical inspections, installations, maintenance on: sewer pumps, street lights, hostels, and high mast lighting –... switch gears of lights
• Planned and ad hoc maintenance of buildings, damaged cable jointing, hot water plants, controls, plant repairs, sewer pumps, street lighting, high mast lighting; and fault finding in pumps
• Campus events: planning, setting up power points, laying of cables, and maintenance before a big event

Minimum Requirements
• A Grade 12 certificate and at least 2 years’ sound experience in electrical building services
• Exposure and knowledge of electrical principles
• Experience in the use and handling of power tools
• Availability for work standby and call out emergency duties
• A Technical qualification (N1) or similar will be an added advantage
