The Summer Internship Program:
The VMG Internship Program provides a unique learning opportunity for individuals interested in careers in the media industry and related fields. We're seeking bright, creative, and hard-working candidates to play pivotal roles across various departments. We match qualified applicants with projects and groups based on interests and skill sets, and fully embed interns within those groups for the summer.
VMG's Summer 2023 Internship Class will have the opportunity to learn more about journalism, production, marketing, design, editing, and more in a 10 week paid program. You'll also assist with a range of projects that compliment your career interests, gain industry relevance and exposure to the organization, attend workshops, socials, and networking events. As an intern you'll have the opportunity to:
• Connect 1:1 with senior leadership on a regular basis and attend developmental training sessions to maximize your experience at VMG.
• Serve as a sounding board for creative business ideas and decisions.
• Expand your network by connecting and collaborating with fellow interns who have similar interests in the media industry.
• Participate in our unique Think Tank project at the end of our program.
What to expect:
• Arrive in person to the office on days designated by your team manager, as well as to attend orientation, intern networking and executive speaker sessions and final presentations.
• You'll be working (40 hours/week; M - F) over the course of our 10 week program (June 5, 2023 - August 11, 2023).
• Our office works in a hybrid capacity (in-person & remote) at our NYC (Williamsburg) on days designated by your manager.
You have these:
• You are enrolled in an accredited undergraduate college/university in the United States.
• Must be an Undergraduate Student graduating between December 2023 - May 2025.
• Relevant coursework in an area relevant to the internship opportunities.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative and individual and fast-paced work environment.
• Strong written, social media and verbal communication skills.
• Fluidity in working with on-site and remote teams.
Role:
• Working closely with the Creative team on projects.
• This includes: taking a brief from Account Management & Strategy, questioning and understanding the propositions in the brief, brainstorming ideas, developing creative executions (mock ups/copy) presenting to the Creative team, and participating in review sessions.
• Supporting the team in bringing a project from concept through to production.

About The Team:
We create content for Refinery29 Unbothered, the sub-brand dedicated to celebrating and serving Black millennial women. Our team operates across several departments including editorial, social and video. We create anything from long-form articles and programs to social assets and videos. We help shape and guide how Refinery29 supports and serves the Black femme audience, delivering on those promises with fresh content, tools, and discussion every day.
Branded Editor
As the lead writer on our creative branded team you’ll work on the most exciting brand programs that exist today.You’ll be at the forefront of Unbothered’s continued expansion into new types of branded storytelling. You’ll conceive, assign, write and edit branded articles, stories, infographics, and more. You’ll pitch interesting angles, generate copy, craft compelling headlines; collaborate on branded campaign materials; and work with our design, sales, creative, editorial and other teams to produce content that achieves a brand’s goals and speaks to the Unbothered audience.
Responsibilities
• Conceptualize original, ambitious branded editorial campaigns that translate our clients’ objectives into great content to include articles or developing something entirely new
• Work with both the branded and editorial teams on campaign development
• Work with the Creative Group and the editors to assign and source writers, directors, producers, designers and any other necessary talent
• Assist the social team in ideating and creating social assets to support campaigns
• Conceptualize and write articles in our CMS for our site that support our branded campaigns
• Collaborate with social media leads to develop concepts for new materials
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently and pitch new, exciting ideas on a consistent basis
- Immerse yourself in each VICE vertical to understand its voice, audience and the content that works best in that environment
- Develop & execute VICE’s multimedia branded content offering alongside the creative, design and product teams
- Conceive, pitch and produce writing-led content programs for our brand partners

The ideal candidate will have
- 5+ years experience working in digital media; a combination of journalism and agency experience is ideal but not mandatory

Scope of Assignment x You
VICE Audio is producing a limited run news/doc series with a global lens about internet culture and music and seeks an experienced freelance producer to work as part of our team for a short-term (six to seven month) assignment. There is also the possibility of a regular position after six months. We are particularly though not exclusively seeking someone with Korean language skills and/or knowledge of Korean language.
As a producer you will be responsible for owning all aspects of pre-production, production and post-production of narrative audio documentary. This includes researching, reporting and planning out the narrative structure of the story -- finding sources, characters and conceptualizing how the story will be told. Producer will cut tape, write scripts, assemble episodes in ProTools, participate in team edits, pre-interviewing and book guests, work with the reporter and/or host to produce stories in the field, helping out with other day-to-day planning, problem solving and finally, being part of a dynamic production team. Producers are expected to build stories in Pro Tools using field tape, reporter/host interviews, archive materials and music. Often you will own the Protools project up to final mix. Experience and enthusiasm with sound design necessary.
Producers will work in close collaboration with a story editor to take series from conception to completion. You will also be expected to contribute to the creative aspects of activating and launching the show.
This is a full-time freelance assignment with competitive pay and health insurance. Due to production timelines, an ideal start date is MID JUNE, however there is some flexibility.
