In this exciting role as Cargo Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for leading Virgin Atlantic Cargo's operational delivery for Boston; ensuring operational excellence by developing and implementing processes and procedures that deliver the operational aspect of our product, while adhering to all regulatory standards in terms of safety, security and technical compliance.

Working with a combination of key partners you'll be responsible for negotiation and agreement of contractual and commercial terms of all sub-contracted suppliers in the region as well as ensuring adherence and accountability to their contractual obligations

Day to day
• Accountable for ensuring all aspects of operational activity for the region adheres to the appropriate security regulatory standards. This requires a thorough, detailed and current knowledge of all CBP/FAA/USDA regulatory standards and procedures.

• Create, deliver and maintain a culture of "operational excellence" among the direct team and supplier partners, to drive delivery of a differentiated operational product.
• Development and maintenance of good working relationships with the appropriate personnel within CBP, FAA, USDA and Virgin Atlantic's Security hierarchy (e.g.: Virgin Atlantic's Head of Security) as above.
• Accountable for ensuring all aspects of our operational activity for the region adheres to the appropriate safety regulatory standards along with those mandated internally at Virgin Atlantic.
• Development and maintenance of good working relationships with the appropriate personnel within IOSA & Virgin Atlantic's Safety hierarchy (e.g.: GM Safety, Security and Compliance)
• Ensure suppliers are customs compliant and held accountable for any failures to operate within the bounds of their respective regulatory authorities.
• Understand the requirements established by CBP/ACE and the system used to connect with CBP.
• Design and implement strong processes to performance manage all 3rd party suppliers in the region, to ensure operational delivery to agreed standards, including the following:
• IATA Quality Processes and Standards and manage the Import Milestones established by Virgin Atlantic.
• Agree, implement and delivery of Service Level Agreements and processes for reviewing performance
• Assist with the procurement process for ground handling and transportation.
• Ensure effective processes are in place to verify and control all operational costs for the region.
• Leads the drive for efficiencies and cost reductions within area of control and boundaries of regulatory compliance and product standards.
• Ensure effective and streamlined processes in place for accurate invoicing and sign off with suppliers and VAA AP dept. for BAU and ad hoc arrangements.

About you

Do you have proven experience as a Manager in the Airfreight industry, preferable with an airline or handling agent? Then this could be the role for you!

Alongside the above we're looking for the following to be successful in your application:
• Knowledge with IATA Live Animal Regulations.
• Excellent knowledge of both international imports and exports documentation.
• Solid understanding of import/export documentation and U.S. Governmental agency requirements.
• Excellent digital literacy with MS Office packages including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
• Self-motivated individual with the ability to travel by car, plane and/or train if required.
• The right to live and work in the USA

This exciting role is responsible for supporting the Manager – Customer Service with day to day activity in addition to all US and Caribbean voice, email and digital transactions for bookings, quotations, interline, trucking and general enquiries ensuring both individual and departmental interactional and transactional targets are met. These targets include, but are not limited to, productivity, revenue generation and customer happiness.

Day to day
• Create, quote, amend and give routing advice for all cargo booking and quotation enquiries through voice and email channels in line with department KPI’s. These include specialist products, for example the transportation of pharmaceuticals, Human remains, high value, or vulnerable shipments.
• Maximise every revenue opportunity though price negotiation, upselling, quote conversation and providing solutions to customers individual needs by working closely with Sales and Revenue Optimisation teams.
• Providing exceptional customer service using your knowledge of our network, product and service offering.
• Building relationships with customers as you will sometimes speak to the same person several times a day.

About you

Are you an experienced customer service professional with Cargo knowledge? Do you love providing the best possible experience for internal and external stakeholders? If so, we think you would love this role!

Alongside the above we're looking for the following to be successful in your application:
• Cargo experience at least 1 year working within a similar or sales-based role.
• Outstanding customer service with strong written skills.
