Key Accountabilities
• Works closely with the director and other leadership team members on projects related to the day-to-day operations and strategic management of the museum at the executive level.
• Performs responsibilities related to the TMA collection to include:
• Performing a full collections assessment of the Museum’s historic and archaeological artworks from Latin America
• Working with curatorial staff to establish strategic collections plan and vision, most notably participating in planning for the reinstallation of the Museum’s world-class collection for the first time in 40 years (scheduled to open Spring 2027).
• Participating as a member of the curatorial team in developing and coordinating exhibitions, programing, and publications.
• Conceptualizing, defining, initiating, and conducting research to prepare and present to curatorial staff and leadership team.

• Working with the Learning & Interpretation Department to assist in the creation of interpretive materials related to our collection

• The project and its proposed timeline will be determined during the fellow’s first year.
• Collaborates with the Development and Finance Departments to include the development and management of the budget for the culminating project.
• Participates with the Museum’s leadership team and staff in the implementation and evaluation of the TMA Strategic Plan and Agile Operating Model.
• Supports the Director of Belonging & Community Engagement and the Chief People & Culture Officer in implementing the Museum’s Belonging Plan.
• Works with the CFO and other senior leadership team members to identify and establish new earned revenue opportunities.
• Receives professional training and development including, but not limited to:
• Structured immersion program to introduce Museum operations with curriculum framing key issues in the field
• Ongoing coaching from either Culture/Talent or an external resource
• Stipend for travel to conferences and other benchmark institutions
• Within the first year, has an opportunity to act as a manager for a project or program impacting the Museum’s strategic operating priorities.
• Participates in the day-to-day activities of the Museum, completes independent work, and is mentored by senior curatorial staff and members of the senior management team.

Education And Experience
• Candidates must have completed their M.A. or Ph.D. within the last three years in art history or a related discipline with a focus on the art of Latin America before 1850.
Specialized Knowledge, Competencies, And Abilities
• Specialized knowledge of the Art of Latin America; concentration is welcome in either indigenous cultures of the southern hemisphere before European contact or a post-colonization specialization.
• Strong academic performer with an interest in museum leadership positions in the future.
• Demonstrated interest in key issues affecting the Museum fields.
• Must be committed to the Toledo Museum of Art for the full two-year duration of the appointment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Frequently attends Museum and development events inside and outside of TMA, with non-standard, often extended work hours, weekends, and occasional overnight travel. • Within the first year, has an opportunity to act as a manager for a project or program impacting the Museum’s strategic operating priorities.
• Participates in the day-to-day activities of the Museum, completes independent work, and is mentored by senior curatorial staff and members of the senior management team.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education And Experience
• Candidates must have completed their M.A. or Ph.D. within the last three years in art history or a related discipline with a focus on the art of Latin America before 1850.
Specialized Knowledge, Competencies, And Abilities
• Specialized knowledge of the Art of Latin America; concentration is welcome in either indigenous cultures of the southern hemisphere before European contact or a post-colonization specialization.
• Strong academic performer with an interest in museum leadership positions in the future.
• Demonstrated interest in key issues affecting the Museum fields.
• Must be committed to the Toledo Museum of Art for the full two-year duration of the appointment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Frequently attends Museum and development events inside and outside of TMA, with non-standard, often extended work hours, weekends, and occasional overnight travel. Standard open office work environment shared with co-workers, with related phone, computer, and printer noise. Position requires ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery and audio/visual equipment such as a copy machine, printer and phone and sound systems.
