GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Workplace Health (WPH) services are critical to ensuring that patients have dignity in work and that employers have access to a health workforce. This position is responsible for the initial interactions with patients, such as escorting patients, taking vital signs, setting up and breaking down exam rooms, injections, labs and other related duties. Responsible for moving patients through the clinic efficiently and effectively. Communicates with customers, employees, and other individuals to disseminate or explain information.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, updates medication list, allergies at each visit and records information in EMR.
Provides injections or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests.
Performs drug and/or alcohol screenings in accordance with proper procedures, including chain of custody, completion of necessary documentation and safety procedures.
Performs Workplace Health testing including, but not limited to hearing, vision, pulmonary function, and neve conduction. Must maintain competency in all testing and follow procedures in the performance of the testing. If certified or licensed by a state agency, will also perform Physical Capacity testing.
Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients; assures all rooms are clean and dispose of trash in rooms.
Assist in WPH outreach events including, but not limited to on-site immunization clinics, on-site safety training and or health education events, and on-site health fairs.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments. Inventories medical supplies and materials.
Maintains consistent patient flow by monitoring scheduling system.
Transports specimens, equipment or supplies utilizing appropriate and safe techniques.
Supports all Providers in their care for patients to include specialty specific procedures/tests.
May assist in the maintenance of testing equipment to ensure accuracy and program compliance.
Performs all duties, services and documentation in full compliance with CHC/SEK policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent.
One to two years of Occupational Health/Medicine experience in clinic or healthcare setting is preferred.
Valid Driver's License as travel is a requirement for this position.
Certified Nurse Aide is strongly preferred.
If certified or licensed by a state governmental agency, will become trained on Physical Capacity testing equipment within six (6) months from date of hire.
Must have CPR/BLS certification upon hire or within six (6) months from date of hire.
Must be certified by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Must become trained and competent to perform basic X-rays within six (6) months from date of hire.
May be asked to become a Certified Occupational Health Conservationist for CHC/SEK Workplace Health's hearing programming.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-base
Demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care.
Communicates through appropriate channels. Use proper chain of command for patient complaints.
Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
Must be computer literate, especially with CHC/SEK's electronic health record, Microsoft Office products and be able to use the Internet.
Must be able to maintain good inter-personal relationship with co-workers and other members of the health care team and the organization.
Provide customer service in accordance to the organization's mission.
Be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to organization's policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hazardous material inventory and MSDS available. Wears personal protective equipment as needed. May be exposed to patients/public with communicable diseases.
