The position reports to the Press Freedom Editor in VOA’s main news center but the successful candidate will also be assigned to work in collaboration with VOA’s 47 language divisions to produce news content for web, radio and TV.
Assignments can range from spot news about an arrest or deportation to enterprise pieces on journalist safety, disinformation, repressive laws or threats to news gathering, the work of media in exile and solutions journalism initiatives.
The multimedia reporter needs to be versatile: the role may require shooting, editing and reporting, and completing post-production work, or working with a video editor to produce packages. The ideal candidate will regularly pitch stories, research background material, establish and maintain contacts, and attend events or briefings as directed.
Responsibilities
Report for web, TV, radio on stories as assigned
Work with Press Freedom Editor and others in newsroom to research, report on and produce short and long-form content
