Position: Printer Operator - Wide Format
Surface LLC produces high end digitally printed wallpaper. Our products are placed in residential and commercial locations. You have the opportunity to join a small team dedicated to producing error free high quality wallpaper for the home decor industry. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of wide format printer experience. Familiarity with... Onyx Thrive and the Adobe Suite is preferred. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be required to have mastery of in RIP and Pre-press color correction skills to maintain accurate color and profiles on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Strict color requirements are necessary for our product line. We maintain a collection of standards for recurring print jobs which must be matched on a continual basis. This is not a quick print franchise print shop - banding and imperfections are not acceptable, “close enough” is not an option. Our market requires a fine attention to detail and accurate error free color on printed products.
This position requires a high degree of color understanding and the ability to accurately perceive color. An assessment will be given to any serious candidate prior to hiring. This test must be passed with 100% accuracy.
Wide format print experience is required for this position. Must be comfortable running a wide format printers. An ability to register and size prints accurately is required. The creation and utilization of quicksets and automated in RIP workflows is expected. Familiarity with Photoshop, specifically color correction is a bonus, but not required.
The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have the capability of following written directions on work orders. This position requires a familiarity and comfort with using technology. The ability to use laptops, tablets, and cloud based software suites to find, track, read, prioritize, and complete orders is a must.
Adherence to standard operating procedures, workflows, note taking, and documentation of the production process are required. Comparing finished projects to our system’s Bill of Materials, Work Order Sheet, and checking for quality issues is required.
Responsibilities
• Perform Scheduled Maintenance of Wide Format Printers
• Maintain a Clean Work Environment
• Measure, Track, and Maintain Roll Lengths and Inventory
• Monitor Print Projects in Real Time for Quality Control Issues
• Identify and Diagnose Printer Hardware Issues i.e. missing nozzles, poor print quality, etc.
• Use company job tracking software
• Maintain calibrated printers with spectrophotometer and software
• Identity, pull, and match to legacy printed standards
Requirements

• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license

• Self motivated
• Ability to lift 80 lbs
• Stand for 8-10 Hours per day
• Perceive color accurately - Must pass Fansworth Munsell Hue Test
