Harpoon is an early-stage venture capital firm that invests in the most elite early-stage technology companies in the world in the areas of enterprise infrastructure, cyber security, AI/ML, and deep technology. We believe that investing in the best, with the best, requires more than capital. As such, our firm specializes in adding asymmetric value to our founders primarily through catalyzing new... customers and strategic partners for their businesses. To date, we have closed over $500M in total contract value for our portfolio from customers ranging from government agencies to financial services and big tech companies.

Harpoon was founded in 2018 and originally seeded by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Andreessen Horowitz. Since then, we have grown to $300M AUM, opened offices in San Diego, and New York City, and built a best-in-class portfolio including companies like Material Security, Robust Intelligence, Solugen, Semgrep, Astranis, Genesis Therapeutics, Netography, Graphiant, Vantage, and many more.

We are building the SEAL Team of venture capital and firmly believe that a small, elite team can achieve outsized strategic level impact. We are a young team of ambitious professionals focused on building an enduring franchise by continuously driving results for our companies, and outsized returns to our limited partners. We are routinely told by our founders that we are the “most dollar-for-dollar impactful investor in the cap table.” This is a badge of honor we wear proudly and represents our ceaseless commitment to excellence.

Role - Investment Associate

Harpoon is seeking an associate for our San Diego office to support our growing organization. Candidates should be knowledgeable in financial markets and emerging technology, uniquely experienced and biased toward action and results. You will work directly with the investment team to support specific aspects of pre and post-investment workflow. This role will be demanding – consist of market and technical research, investment diligence and other activities critical to informed decision-making. You will play an integral role in scaling our organization’s key functions in a way that presents an incredible opportunity for professional growth. You will gain first-hand exposure to the top enterprise startups, VC firms, and limited partners. This is a great opportunity for individuals with investment banking, private equity, or relevant consulting experience.

We are looking for people focused on building something special who can thrive in a team-first environment. If you are someone with strong communication and problem-solving skills, capable of driving success for our team, our founders and our investors, please apply!

Compensation: $150k + healthcare, PTO, and retirement plan

Location: San Diego (Harpoon HQ). This is an in-person and full-time position with occasional travel required.

We are assessing candidates based on their professional history, industry knowledge, work quality, and ability to execute.

Please communicate clearly, concisely, and impactfully.

Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from you.

Strive Valiantly,

Harpoon
