This full-time career position will supervise the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. This position will be involved in the expense budgeting for the department and ensuring that budget is met. It is important the Chief Engineer works closely with all departments to identify and evaluate the technical direction for the station.
This input will determine the Capital Budgeting plan of the station. Duties include troubleshooting, maintaining and installing studio and editing equipment. This is a Monday-Friday position, but occasional weekend and night shifts will be necessary.
All engineering staff are on call 24/7.The right candidate will be responsible for the following: Have good people skills to work with department managers and lead the technical department personnel. Manage all engineering aspects of the technical facility including studio support, post editing systems, field production support and transmission of live/taped events and programs. Have expert knowledge regarding equipment, technology, systems and be able to step in and assist in emergency situations.
Responsible for station Engineering Department budget and Capital Budget/Plan. Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and communication with departments regarding those regulations Managing the implementing Capital Projects. Integration, maintenance and operation of new and exciting equipment including towers, transmitters, microwave, satellite, IT and tenant installations.
Must be able to install and remove rack equipment weighing 25-50 pounds with the coworker assistance. Have working knowledge of the latest operating systems software, including automation, server and desktop operating systems. Oversight and maintenance of all station physical assets including building and grounds.
