Job Summary/Description:

WGEM is looking for a multimedia journalist to join our Emmy award-winning news team. We are seeking qualified candidates who have a passion for story-telling and news gathering, with a strong understanding of how news is delivered on multiple platforms. You will shoot, write and edit content for our digital and broadcast platforms. During newscasts, you may be teamed with a photojournalist for active LIVE storytelling.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

- Shooting, writing, and editing daily content for newscasts, web, and social media.
- Enterprise story ideas and build local contacts.
- Perform other duties necessary to assist the newsroom as assigned by management.
- Present information in a fair, unbiased manner, insuring the information is accurate and of interest to viewers.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Preferred qualifications include Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications or related field. Experience with news and video editing software is a benefit. A valid driver's license is a must. Solid technical and computer skills, and understanding of how content is turned on multiple media platforms. Ability to handle moderate stress on a regular basis, meet daily and long range deadlines, work well with others in a team atmosphere

WGEM (NBC-FOX-CW-METV) has an immediate opening for a Sports Director to lead our three-person team. WGEM serves the Quincy-Hannibal-Keokuk market, known as the “Tri-State Area”. The DMA features 8 Missouri counties, 7 Illinois counties, and 1 Iowa county.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
• Staying current on sports topics, local teams and local sports developments through reading, research and contact with sports sources
• Anchoring the 6 pm and 10 pm sportscasts Monday – Friday
• Being a working sports reporter, working as an MMJ to cover local sports stories of importance to our community *Live reports
• Writing and posting sports stories to WGEM.com daily,
• Posting sports stories on all station Social Media platforms
• Learning and implementing all Newsroom technology
• Produce high-quality sports packages
• Develop sources and generate ideas

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Strong writing and journalism skills are a must for this role
• Ability to shoot, edit (Edius)
• Able to run a LiveU live kit
• Previous experience writing for web and broadcast is required
• Eligible candidates must have 3 years of experience in a sports anchor role
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication or related field preferred but prior experience as a sports director would be given consideration.
• Good writing skills and ability to function under deadline pressure

Job Summary/Description:

WGEM is looking for a full-time IT systems manager for our television station in Quincy, Illinois. This position is responsible for all areas of end user support, including building and maintaining Windows desktops and laptops, managing servers, printers, backups, end user applications, basic IP networking skills, cabling, and all other related systems and equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Provide all areas of desktop client support for local and remote employees
- Build and manage Windows desktops and laptops
- Build and manage Windows servers, file shares, backups, and plans for disaster recovery
- Manage local Active Directory user accounts, passwords, and access to local resources
- Set up work areas, including docking stations, monitors, and printers
- Install and support Microsoft Office and other client applications
- Work with Corporate IT to support local employees use of company applications
- Maintain and manage station IP data network
- Work with Corporate IT to administer, install, and troubleshoot edge network equipment, to include routers and firewalls
- Work with broadcast engineers and newsroom to support all broadcast automation systems
- Maintain station phone system and voicemail, to include add/remove employees
- Process trouble tickets in the company helpdesk system

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Have good people skills to work with the other Departments
- Have expert knowledge regarding equipment, IT technology, systems and be able to step in and assist in emergency situations
- Have working knowledge of the latest operating systems software, including automation, server, and desktop operating systems
- An Associates degree in computer networks, broadcast engineering or related field/experience is preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft operating system, LAN layout, and maintenance, as well as knowledge of data switches, routers and storage devices is necessary
