This internship aims to provide a variety of opportunities to explore cultural heritage data and how museums can interface with external platforms such as Wikipedia/Wikidata, as well as data authorities from the Getty and Library of Congress:

Work with the Museum team using Wikipedia to connect and enhance Museum data particularly surrounding people in Georgia O Keeffe s circle to strengthen... broaden, and make a more inclusive knowledge network
Defining priorities around areas of need for Wikipedia entries with focus on various vectors such as significant contributor (as defined by Wikipedia standards), under-represented groups, and connections to the Georgia O Keeffe context
Writing and improving articles and convening an edit-a-thon to build community according to Wikipedia standards
Researching and establishing connections with O Keeffe collections using standard vocabularies such as the Union List of Artist Names (ULAN) and the Library of Congress Names Authority File (LCNAF)
Learning across the organization
Key Learning/Experience for Intern:
• Knowledge of cultural heritage data standards and how these interfaces with Wikipedia/Wikidata
• Familiarity with collections and archive information management systems
• Experience organizing an event and sharing the community guidelines and ideas behind Wikipedia
• Working collaboratively with and learning from Museum teams
• Presenting ideas and findings to colleagues
Background and Qualifications
• BA with experience in Art History and/or Museum Studies preferred
Skills and Abilities
Interest in Georgia O Keeffe and networks of artistic communities
Experience with Wikipedia and familiarity with the concept of a Wikipedian-in-Residence
Love of writing, research, and metadata
Word processing and presentation-writing computer skills

This internship starts in June and runs for 10 weeks.
