Vortex Digital, Inc., a local Iowa City web development and digital media firm is looking for a conscientious and reliable individual wanting to do development work in harmony with any business hours schedule.
Duties:
• An eclectic WordPress Web Development Position:
• Utilizing your skills in WordPress, HTML, CSS, PHP and Javascript.
• Updating WP cores,templates and plugins.
• Moving sites and Dbases from server to server.
• Tweaking responsive sites with Media Queries
• Customizing child themes and plugins
• Developing challenging websites with a great team who helps each other succeed
• Finding creative solutions for client web challenges
• Write and modify code on a daily basis
• Develop and document systems, and procedures
• Spec out project details and development
• Responsive and Mobile Development across all browsers and devices
• Experience with Advanced Custom Fields
• Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot/debug when issues arise
• Stay up to date with best security practices
• Optimize sites for speed and page load time
• SEO best practices & implementation
• Experience with Google Products (GA4, Search Console, reCaptcha, API library)
• cPanel & WHM experience
• Maintain sites after launch (backing up, updating core, themes and plugins)
• Implementation of security measures on WP sites
• Ability to absorb and learn new software
• Understanding of DNS (domain name system) and email creation
• Diagnose and resolve all web related functionality.
Qualifications:
• Do you always show up without excuse, eager to get work done?
• Are you skilled at programming web designs or pages the WordPress platform?
• We are looking for happy, friendly, outgoing, self-motivated, mature, honest, dependable, disciplined, highly organized, detail oriented individuals.
• An understanding of web Best Practices, UX and ergonomic, agile development.
• Be Impeccable
• A degree in web development, Web design, computer science, etc is helpful but not required.
• Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities for web dev issues and troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication skills for providing, impeccable, over-the-top customer service for clients and ability to work solo or with team members
You must have it together, be well organized and be interested in getting work DONE.
You MUST be competent and have experience developing in WordPress, HTML, and CSS.
Any additional experience in PHP, Javascript, mySql, .aspx, and other platforms is helpful. Experience in Lightroom, PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, XD and the Adobe suite is a plus.
• You will be given a HTML, CSS and PhP test; you must demonstrate your competency.
• Compensation commensurate with your skill sets
