What we do...

Hello! We're the proud parents of ALEX, an interactive employee communications platform that makes choosing (and using) employee benefits easier and more enjoyable. Our credo is a simple one: be helpful. And we think the best way to achieve that is with a staff that reflects the vast range of ideas, perspectives, and experiences of the millions of people who use our products.

Who we are

Jellyvision is committed to continuous evolution and to fostering a more diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone is welcomed, valued, and respected. It doesn't matter your race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, gender identity, sex, or country of origin...we just want amazing people who are willing to grow along with us.

How you'll help

As a Content Writer at Jellyvision, you'll be responsible for the language that millions of our end users hear and see when they use our products. Today, this means writing in a variety of mediums, including the email and text communications that play a key role in the end-user experience.

In this role, you'll help facilitate a holistic approach to end user-facing content and campaign planning across Jellyvision's suite of products and services.

Our brand and the success of our products rely hugely on our writers, who have an ear for how people speak in their everyday lives. To do this successfully, you'll need to weave word magic that appeals to everyone from Joe Schmo to CEO. You need to believe in your heart that every topic is inherently interesting and can be explained clearly, no matter how ostensibly boring niche or complicated it is.

What you'll do
• Lead ideation and strategy development on communications campaigns that help activate and educate end users within the Jellyvision product ecosystem; then, write the copy on deadline and work with a cross-functional team to iterate based on the results.
• Craft articles, emails, and text copy that educate and serve as behavioral nudges to help users get more out of their benefits.
• Tackle a variety of writing tasks, balancing Jellyvision's desire to express our unique brand voice with our users' desire to achieve their goals quickly and easily.
• May assist with updating the logic-based scripts for our interactive ALEX products and draft new ones.
• May research and understand complex topics related to healthcare, benefits, and finances, and synthesize that research into problems you'll concept solutions to.
• May work with a cross-functional team to create prototypes that illustrate key product features.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and customer-facing roles to find creative solutions to user and customer problems.
• Explain and re-explain your creative vision for the duration of a project, collaborating with artists, designers, and engineers to bring great user experiences to life.
• Give others (writers and non-writers alike) clear, constructive feedback on their work.
• May help gather user and customer reactions to validate our concepts.
• Partner closely with product managers and product owners, marketing, sales, and user and customer research teams to be sure our messages are consistent and well-informed.
• Participate in scoping and effort estimates for work.

Experience & skills you'll need
• Exceptional writing talent across a variety of mediums, with demonstrated skill in crafting succinct, conversational, clever, and helpful language. The ideal candidate will have experience writing copy for email, text, and product needs.
• Content and campaign planning: You love to write and you excel at it, but you know there's much more to a content strategy than words on a page. In this role, you'll concept and deliver year-round communications campaigns to support multiple products that deliver timely, educational content to end users that helps them get more out of their employer-provided benefits.
• Reporting: You love brainstorming creative campaigns, but you're equally focused on optimizing results and meeting key metrics.
• An ability to understand and create logically complex user experiences like the ones underlying many of our products.
• A knack for understanding what's inherently interesting and relevant about whatever you're communicating and the drive to ask questions until you do.
• The ability to develop a deep understanding and empathy for our users and customers, via instinct, experience, and research.
• Tech-savvy. We won't ask you to set up our wireless network, but you may be using some new software or be asked to learn some simple bits of code to help articulate logic-based content.
• Exceptional creativity and outrageous attention to detail. You consistently deliver clean copy that's consistent with Jellyvision's internal style guide.
• Great creative judgment. You'll need to know funny, polished, clever, and clear when you see it, and when you don't, how to get to it.
• Mental agility. Being able to improvise and iterate is essential.

Specifically for this project, I am looking for someone to write a How to Play the Bajo Quinto guide. This is meant to be a guide to take someone that knows nothing about the bajo quinto to be able to start playing the bajo quinto with some songs/examples to practice/follow along.

Please see the attached table... of contents as a reference guide for things to include. Feel free to use your domain expertise to adjust the TOC accordingly.

I am looking for this book to be a diagram-heavy book, as learning how to play the bajo quinto needs visuals. Please include lots and lots of images and diagrams within this book in order to fully explain to the readers how to play the bajo quinto. Please see the attached book for an example of related work I had completed and expectations. This can be used as a template for this project.

For this book, I am looking for it to roughly be 10,000 - 15,000 words and to be completed in an 8-week time frame.

Additionally, I am looking for someone that can then record sample audio clips of the explained chords and music examples. Please note, this will be a separate project, I will pay you hourly to record the music and pay the full cost of the recording studio, if applicable. I believe one of the best ways to learn is to also hear the music alongside the book.

Key responsibilities would include:

- Produce written work outlined in the above job description

- Deep understanding of the subject matter for the written material

- Review feedback from an editor and implement suggested changes to written material

Required Qualifications:

- Experienced writer

- Self-motivated

- Ability to work well independently

- Attention to detail

- Creative thinking

Milestone Progression:

1. 10% paid on day one at the start of the project

2. 25% paid when 1/3 of the book is completed and review

3. 25% paid when 2/3 of the book is completed and review

4. 40% paid when 100% of the book is completed and the final review

Please apply here with your proposed rates in your application, as well as a sample of your writing for me to review
