• Report on how climate change is affecting life across the Carolinas, including its impact on weather patterns, the economy, recreation, agriculture, wildlife and energy
• Create content for all CMG news products – Eyewitness News, wsoctv.com, WSOC Now and Noticias Charlotte (Telemundo)
• Collaborate with other climate reporters in the region and with WSOC’s Severe Weather Team 9 to increase the frequency and breadth of reporting
• Leverage WSOC’s local and national investigative resources to dig deeper into climate change stories
• Be able to shoot and edit when needed, while also able to collaborate with photographers, editors and graphic artists on higher profile stories
• Enterprise stories by developing sources and contacts.
• Write and produce news stories for television, web, and mobile.
• Make creative use of live technology to help tell a story.
• Understand and implement station's research-based goals.
• Enterprise stories, provide active live shots, and use process story-telling techniques.
• Utilize social media/digital platforms.
• Must be able to work under tight deadlines and respond quickly to breaking news.
• Reporter maybe asked to make public appearances for the station.

Job Requirements

• Prior Master Control experience in an automated environment is required. Must be capable in on-air automation and ingest functions. Experience with Imagine ADC automation systems is a plus.
• Minimum AA/AS (college) degree required; Bachelors’ degree in Communication, Radio/TV/Film or an equivalent combination of skills (trade school) preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Must be computer literate
• SBE Operator certification and/or FCC General Class license is a definite plus
• Must be proactive, well-organized and detail-oriented.
