POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the direct supervision of Antelope Valley Community Uplift Foundation (AVCUF), the Extended Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) Youth Counselors will provide virtual and classroom instruction, assistance and tutoring to students in the after school program, and will lead engaging culturally rich academic, enrichment, and recreation activities. In groups of approximately 10 to 20 youth (depending on the current guidelines), in various recreational and developmental activities in multiple areas. Youth Counselors will provide opportunities for students to develop and strengthen academic, physical, and social skills through high yield learning activities and sports programs.

Must be able to work within program hours: Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Ensures programs and activities adhere to current health and safety protocols.

-Assist with the development of a virtual online program.

-Be aware of current safety protocols that are being adhered to: adults and youth are wearing face coverings, social distancing, frequent hand washing, etc.

-Perform various administrative tasks, including answering emails.

-Supervises members in program area; continually monitor and supervise the safety and behavior of members; maintaining a safe, positive atmosphere; implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) techniques and classroom management.

The Yemeni American Merchants Association (YAMA) is seeking applicants for the full time Youth Development Coordinator. The Youth Development Coordinator at YAMA will be responsible for the recruitment of youth and the development of YAMA’s youth programming. The candidate for this role will build and execute programs and events that engage youth from all socio-economic and cultural... backgrounds. The Youth Coordinator will report directly to the Community Organizer and work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure grant deliverables are being met.

Applicants for this role need to have a strong background working with children and youth, ability to build professional relationships with local schools and organizations, ability to create flyers for their events using Canva, have an administrative skill set to manage and track projects using Wrike, and manage all contacts using Salesforce. Additionally, applicants will be responsible for creating content for the execution of YAMA's youth program.

The Youth Coordinator will work full time in our 86th street office in Brooklyn and will utilize our office space along with outsourcing community spaces for the youth programming.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years supervising community based youth programs and experience developing prevention programs.
• Experience with case management and youth counseling in a mental health setting.
• Knowledge of: Development and administration of youth programs, Supervision, Contract management, Grant Writing
• Bi-Lingual: Arabic, Spanish, preferred
