Supervises the day-to-day functionality and assumes general oversight of the assigned area’s operations and services as related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective. Directs daily tasks related to the full scope of a department’s/division’s overall programs and/or services.

Serves as the University’s primary mental health voice, advocating for department and the mental health needs of YSU students within the University and the surrounding community. Serves as spokesperson to campus community regarding mental health needs of campus.

Provides direct clinical services including assessment/diagnosis, short-term individual and group counseling to YSU students. Conducts initial consultation and assessments.

Provides crisis intervention and emergency coverage.

Collaborates with other medical providers to provide comprehensive care.

Provides consultative expertise to members of the University community, including issues that affect the mental health and psychological well-being of students and campus as a whole and in-service training to coaches, faculty, administrators, and student leaders on psychological/social issues affecting students.

Represents department at University functions, divisional, and departmental meetings/events both during and outside of regular office hours.

Develops and implements policies governing programs, delivery of services and general departmental operations in conjunction with SCS and University missions.

Monitors and maintains professional standards, ethics, and laws within department.

Assists in the coordination of postvention services following student crises (e.g., student suicides and other deaths, accidents, fires, etc.).

Maintains current knowledge of policies, practices, laws, and ethical standards in regard to the provision of training.

Maintains minimum licensure, including required continuing education.

Stays current on best practices in the fields of mental health overall and in college mental health specifically, through professional association affiliation and involvement.

Ensures provision of high-quality clinical supervision to trainees and unlicensed staff.

Coordinates practicum and internship training programs within SCS. Designs and facilitates workshops and educational programs.

Conducts training seminars as requested and deemed necessary.

Plans and manages departmental budget, balancing everyday needs and University goals.

Manages applicable contracts including, but not limited to, Titanium and ProtoCall.

Provides consultation services to student groups, faculty, and staff within the university.

Participates in research and/or data collection in accordance with the rules of the University’s IRB.

Serves as a member of the YSU CARE (Concern-Assessment-Referral- Education) Team, Crisis Response Team, STAND Team, and other(s) as appropriate.

Collaborates with other campus offices and resources. Maintains a network of current resources available on campus and in the community; refer as appropriate.

Ensures accurate departmental record keeping of client notes, correspondence, referrals, and phone calls.

Ensures maintenance of ongoing case statistics to assist with Co-Curricular Assessment Reporting, Divisional Annual Report, and other analytic/data requests.

Provides leadership in the coordination of needs assessment and outcome research for SCS.

Develops and utilizes electronic programs and other tools to enhance the efficacy of SCS work.

Preferred Qualifications: A master’s degree in social work with supervisory designation (LISW-S), in addition to requirement of LPCC-S.
