WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
• Design, implement, deploy and operate scalable solutions which enable Partners to sell their selection on Zalando.
• Own your code and contribute to decisions on the technologies and tools to deliver as well as operate large-scale applications on cloud (AWS or Kubernetes), based on a microservices architecture.
• Work closely with stakeholders and dependencies, with the product and design counterparts on solution planning, design and implementation
• Ensure system-reliability engineering and technical compliance

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
• You have experience in developing large scale applications using a JVM based language (Java/Kotlin/Scala)
• You know your way around frontends using JavaScript with frameworks such as React.
• You have hands-on experience in RESTful API design, as well as building microservice-based systems in the cloud (eg. AWS, Kubernetes)
• Pragmatic and curious, find the right tool for the right job. We solve business problems in the best possible way, but not better than that
• You have good communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, moderate team meetings and find creative solutions to complex problems as a team.

THE ROLE

At a high level, the roles mission includes:

#1: Crack inspiration beyond the purchase driven customer journey

#2: Build the best possible marketing platform for authors on Zalando. One where the Group’s growth can be driven by marketing Zalando’s offering together with partners onsite.

#3: Build, shape, train and foster a world-class product team that partners seamlessly with technology as well as commercial profiles to build and grow the business.

As the Product Director of Content Experiences you will be responsible for the end to end content experience on Zalando: From setting the strategy and direction, to defining the product roadmap, executing the roadmap with your Engineering and Applied Science colleagues to working with commercial functions such Propositions, Marketing and local market teams to operate and shape the content experience. Establishing clear and scalable frameworks on how to steer content visibility as well as how to measure and optimise content performance is part of your role expectation to inform Zalando’s investment in creating high quality and scalable content for customers in 25 different markets.

You will directly manage a senior team of 3-5 talents depending how you set up the team. Your role is critical for Zalando to deeply understand our customers and change the experience to drive regular visits and interest, beyond one-time purchases. Success means customers open our app, not only when they want to buy Fashion or Beauty products, but when they want to be entertained, inspired, know about what’s trending in Fashion and Lifestyle. Success means our investment in content allows us to leverage our own platform as our very best Marketing platform.

Specifically, this role will focus on defining a multi-year product vision and strategy across the whole content lifecycle, including engagement and retention strategies both for authors (eg. Brand Partners) and consumers. You will closely collaborate with Zalando Marketing, Partner Services, local Markets and different Propositions.

Working alongside our Director of Engineering, we are looking for a Director of Product Management to help us translate the Zalando Group Strategy into a clear vision for Content Experiences to deepen customer relationships.

We expect you to hold world class knowledge on driving inspiration and retention within large content ecosystems. As we develop and operate algorithmical personalisation and economical optimisation products you should have relevant background to understand the opportunities and complexities of building algorithmical solutions in scale.
