If you can't find the use in your day to day transactions, sometime what I do is to load the full amount of the amex giftcards to balances such as Amazon or Starbucks. Why does Amex not work with Amazon? Amex now requires online merchants to also use the 4-digit code on the front when processing transactions. Hence why it does not work with Amazon anymore since Amazon does not take the code. There is a specific help article that says they don't. See, that makes sense once it’s explained. But why can’t AMEX explain that. How incompetent are they?
