What You’ll Do
• Help the editor identify media to review, research potential reviewers, provide feedback on reviews, and work with the design team to commission original art and identify supporting imagery for page layouts

Minimum Qualifications
• Interns must be currently enrolled in a university or college program related to science, science journalism, history or philosophy of science
• Experience in writing about science for a non-technical audience

Minimum Qualifications

What You'll Do
• Act as the product owner, for the publishing platform for Science.org. Science.org includes all Science Family content, including the six Science Family journals, News from Science, the Science Podcast, Science blogs, Science Careers, Custom Publishing and the Science Partner Journal program
• Be the first point of contact, project manage, and be responsible for the management of Atypon, the Science.org platform vendor, as well as working with colleagues on the management of other vendors, including Cadmore, OMNY, Altmetrics, Google Scholar and more.
• Directly implement changes on Literatum, working in collaboration with operations teams and in line with platform governance
• Manage a documented knowledge base of our existing platform systems functions and needs, user experience and data flows
• Collaborate with, and be a key stakeholder, in discussions around publishing technology, including current and future directions, including co-chairing the platform governance meeting and representing the platform in architecture council.
• Act as our inhouse expert on publishing platforms and broader publishing technology trends
• Identify and execute development plans as needed with internal and external teams including extensive requirement gathering, estimates and ongoing communications for publishing technology projects
• Work with cross-department teams to rollout key publishing platform projects and to understand dependencies for the publishing platform

Desired Qualifications
• 4+ experience of publishing experience preferred, in academic publishing technology or vendor management roles
• Experience working with Literatum, the Atypon platform, greatly preferred
• Experience working with publishing platforms, submissions or production systems in scholarly journals and various content packaging across multiple platforms highly desirable
• Knowledge of JATS 2.0 XML and Taxonomies is a plus
• Strong project management skills
• Experience managing external vendors or freelancers
• Strong writing skills as demonstrated in project plans, stakeholder communications, and daily operations communications
• Strong presentation skills as demonstrated in project presentations for stakeholders and senior management
