This position will foster the mutual conservation objectives of the RGJV, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Texas Parks and Wildlife and other partners (see RGJV board) by enhancing wildlife habitat in streams and uplands of the Chihuahuan Desert. This position contributes to the goals and objectives of the Texas Conservation Action Plan, the National Fish Conservation Area in the Chihuahuan Desert, and national and international bird conservation plans by working closely with RGJV, American Bird Conservancy (ABC), and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) staff and other partner organizations to provide technical and financial assistance related to habitat enhancement and restoration.
Major Duties:
• Establish, improve, and maintain grassland habitats and riparian zones;
• Conduct outreach to landowners and partners and advise/recommend/support restoration and/or habitat management and improvement projects;
• Conduct data collection, reduction and reporting of stream characterization or monitoring data;
• Implement a low-tech, process-based stream restoration plan on cooperating private land as well as public lands that includes but is not limited to siting and laying out in-stream structures, and supervising the construction of in-stream structures;
• Operate appropriate heavy equipment in support of the implementation of stream restoration or wildlife habitat management plans;
• Lend technical assistance to partners with respect to stream restoration techniques and construction upon request;
• Coordinate and aid in preparation of appropriate CAD drawings and permits for stream restoration and habitat management activities;
• Candidates will often work outdoors, in relatively difficult weather conditions
• * Job will require wading in streams, walking on uneven terrain, manual labor, working in close proximity of large heavy equipment, odd hours, and travel/time away from home.
• Required to travel up to 30% with possible overnight stays.
• Driving to sites may require maneuvering over steep, uneven terrain along rivers and streams;
• Manual labor often required, including lifting supplies and materials up to 40 lbs.;

• Ability to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with private landowners, land managers, advisory boards, universities, consultants, governmental and nongovernmental organizations, as well as the general public;
• Knowledge of grassland and/or riparian ecology and research issues;
• Ability to design and write habitat management plans;
• Skill in reviewing, analyzing, and presenting technical data and documents;
• Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare written correspondence;
• Ability to provide site investigations, sampling and analysis to determine restoration plans;

The Coordinating Wildlife Biologist will work within the Northern Great Plains Joint Venture (ngpjv.org/about-us/where-we-work) region in northwest South Dakota; specifically, Buffalo. Buffalo is in the four corners area of the Dakotas, Montana, and Wyoming. With over a half dozen National Parks relatively nearby, (Black Hills, Teddy Roosevelt National Park, National grasslands, etc.) these expansive public lands provide and abundance of recreational outdoor activities.
MAJOR DUTIES:
• Work with local partners to increase habitat management efforts and participate in regional and statewide habitat meetings.
• Assist or coordinate activities and projects with NRCS, SDGFP, or other agency or non-profit partners.
• Provide leadership and support for outreach activities including direct collaboration with project managers, and through landowner field events, inter-agency partnership training meetings, and other communication efforts
• Program promotion, including workshops and one-on-one meetings.
• Contract coordination
• Conservation plan development and modification
• Site assessment and reporting
• Provide conservation technical guidance, including wildlife habitat enhancement techniques, and conservation program delivery, to private landowners and public organizations within partner identified priority areas.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• A minimum requirement for this position is a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Management or, closely related natural resources field and three years of relevant experience; (Wildlife Society Certification and graduate work will also be considered).
• Knowledge of conservation and wildlife habitat programs provided by federal (i.e. US Fish and Wildlife Service), state, & local entities.
• Proven experience working with USDA Farm Bill programs (i.e. RCPP, EQIP, CSP, ACEP, CRP and CREP) is preferred.
• In addition, knowledge of how these programs are implemented in an agricultural landscape is desired.
• Must be able to obtain USDA Federal Security Clearance.

MAJOR DUTIES:
• Create and execute social media strategies to advance the organization's conservation work, thought leaders, and ABC overall
• Optimize written and visual content for social platforms and execute daily posting schedule using online software such as Later for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Mastodon, YouTube, and LinkedIn
• Actively create and manage social media content calendar that supports overall communications editorial calendar
• Cultivate and manage relationships with social media audience with specific attention to ABC supporters and other bird conservation related influencers

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in a communications-related field and a minimum of 3 years' related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Demonstrated ability to create engaging multimedia content tailored for each platform and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Content must be inventive, accurate, and compelling, and must convey ABC's mission and encourage consistent engagement from the audience
• Knowledge and basic skills with photo, video, and infographic creation, ideally including familiarity with online software such as Canva
• Experience cultivating and managing collaborative relationships with colleagues and/or partners
• Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects with varying deadlines
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills

INTRODUCTION:
The mission of American Bird Conservancy (ABC) is to conserve birds and their habitats - the places birds need to thrive - across the Americas. We are a growing group of 125+ dedicated staff, located across the United States and with a network of partners from Canada to Chile. Each year, we grow in budget and staff, and we deliver more results aimed at preventing bird species extinctions and reversing declines that are reducing populations of nearly all bird groups. The Social Media Specialist will develop and implement social media campaigns and content in order to advance our communication and organizational goals, including elevating ABC's visibility, reputation, and subject matter experts. Candidates must have a proven track record of growing and cultivating audiences on multiple social media platforms; generating creative content to meet goals; appropriately handling reputational threats; and working collaboratively with colleagues.
MAJOR DUTIES:
• Create and execute social media strategies to advance the organization's conservation work, thought leaders, and ABC overall
• Optimize written and visual content for social platforms and execute daily posting schedule using online software such as Later for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Mastodon, YouTube, and LinkedIn
• Actively create and manage social media content calendar that supports overall communications editorial calendar
• Cultivate and manage relationships with social media audience with specific attention to ABC supporters and other bird conservation related influencers
• Develop digital content, both written and visual
• Identify and manage social media partnership opportunities
• Promptly respond to direct messages and actively monitor comments. Appropriately manage sensitive discussions
• Track and report on metrics, summarize results, devise new strategies when needed and achieve growth in terms of followers and engagement
• Partner with marketing team counterparts on paid social media efforts
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in a communications-related field and a minimum of 3 years' related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Demonstrated ability to create engaging multimedia content tailored for each platform and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Content must be inventive, accurate, and compelling, and must convey ABC's mission and encourage consistent engagement from the audience
• Knowledge and basic skills with photo, video, and infographic creation, ideally including familiarity with online software such as Canva
• Experience cultivating and managing collaborative relationships with colleagues and/or partners
• Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects with varying deadlines
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Understanding of what makes a successful post, as measured by targeted metrics such as engagement rates
• Strong list of successful social media campaign results
• Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends on social platforms, especially Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and Mastodon
• Background screening required
• Authorized to work in the U.S. or Permanent Resident
Preferred Additional Skills:
• Spanish and Portuguese language skills a plus
• Multicultural or cross-cultural experience
• Experience working with non-English language media, especially Spanish-language media in the U.S.
• Interest in birds, conservation, environmental justice, or related areas
