ACM is seeking a full-time Editor to work in ACM’s New York City headquarters who will be... responsible for overseeing a portfolio of approximately 20 of the Association’s portfolio of over 60 peer-reviewed journals. The Editor will work directly with a dedicated international community of volunteers, including editors, authors, reviewers, and readers of ACM’s journal publications, as well as supervising an international network of editorial service providers, software vendors, and other key stakeholders in the scholarly publishing lifecycle.

Position:

The Editor will work closely with a highly skilled and experienced team of publishing professionals and dedicated volunteers from the scientific community on the Association’s highly respected journals program, as well as participating in strategic initiatives to ensure the continued growth and viability of ACM’s journals program. The Editor will report to the ACM Associate Director of Publications.

Responsibilities:

· Manage and ensure timely and quality publication of a portfolio of ~20 ACM journals.

· Develop strong relationships with the Editors-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and the author and reviewer communities.

· Manage outsourced Editorial Assistant and Journal Admins.

· Work with all Editors-in-Chief to orient them to responsibilities, assist with manuscript tracking, and collaborate on journal strategic development.

· Prepare and present journal viability metrics and reports to Publications Board.

· Create and oversee implementation of journal development plans.

· Assist in development and launch of new journal titles.

· Contribute to cross-portfolio strategic initiatives such as reviewer training and open access transition.

· Work with journal admins and EICs to set up and maintain journal home pages.

· Work closely with EICs to ensure that editorial scopes of journals are relevant to the author community and adapt to changes in the market (authors, readers, customers, etc.)

Basic requirements:

4. Manages and monitors rental collection.

a. Ensure rent and other charges are collected timely and posted daily.

b. Ensure the proper legal notices are given and deadlines met concerning filing eviction, filing writs, and attending court hearings.

c. Ensure compliance with community policies and lease agreements. Responds to violations and communicates with the residents.

d. Assess move-out condition of apartments and has a final account statement sent with the final disposition.

e. Immediately inform and refer any liability claims, legal complaints, or other violations to the Regional Manager and/or corporate office.

5. Manages community personnel.

a. Hire, train, and evaluate community staff.

b. Create, mentor, and manage a cohesive community management team in accordance with policies.

c. Coordinate orientation and ongoing training programs for community staff.

d. Complete performance reviews for staff and makes recommendations for salary increases and/or advancement.

e. Direct and control all personnel and resources to ensure the community is properly maintained and meets owner objectives.

f. Manage time off for community management team and submit payroll for processing.

g. Ensure staff receives new hire safety orientation as well as annual safety training.

h. Coordinate with the Service Manager and attend monthly safety meetings and training for community staff; monitor the use of proper safety precautions on the community.

i. Follow company procedures and reports any workers' compensation issues and/or employee incidents immediately to the workers' compensation carrier, to management, and to Employee Service Department.

6. Manages, creates and monitors marketing activities.

a. Understand the market and any other aspects of the sub-market that could impact occupancy and/or income of the community.

b. Assist with the creation of marketing surveys and understands marketing strategies to secure prospects.

c. Supervise the leasing team to ensure community is rented to the fullest capacity.

7. Perform other duties as assigned or requested to support community operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
