SUMMARY OF PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of the Operations team, the Development Response Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to implement a comprehensive stewardship program designed to foster and nurture long-term, meaningful relationships between AFSC and its donors and provide colleagues throughout the organization with the support they need to do so in their roles. The Development Response Coordinator manages mail opening, electronic payment monitoring and processing for outright, major, planned gifts, grants and receivables for other departments. The Development Response Coordinator will collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders including program staff, donors, development officers, external organizations, and others to provide front-line response to donor and staff inquiries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: The key responsibilities of the Donor Services Associate include the following:
• Serve as the first responder on donor services phone lines and email response accounts. Interpret both verbally, and in writing, AFSC’s programs to donors, including complex and controversial matters. Develop and maintain written response templates that reflect current and frequent topics of concern and ensure that operations unit staff are able to deliver uniform responses to donors’ frequently asked questions.
• Manage mail-opening process in compliance with audit standards. Prepare deposits and maintain accurate deposit logs and deposit records, based on up-to- date audit controls. Manage the scanning and storage of digital and physical donation source documents. Scan and email letters and gift source documents for gift officers and other departments as needed. Monitor and update processes to balance ease of access with security.
• Support Finance and other departments by proactively depositing non-contribution funds, completing check transmittals, researching received payments and maintaining records of these payments, enabling those departments to perform their roles more easily from home.
• Monitor funds received electronically and in coordination with other departments to determine the nature of receivables. Log funds accordingly.
• Serve as AFSC’s point of contact for donor advised funds, employee giving, matching gift companies, and new payment platforms. Maintain documentation for access to all accounts and ensure that this secured data is available to Director of Development Operations.
• Support data hygiene through the merging and updating of records in Salesforce and Every Action. Identify, research, and resolve gift or record discrepancies. Resolve matters when gift transactions do not go through or have incomplete data.
• Support gift officers by researching payments and donor information and maintaining online storage protocols for saving information in Sharepoint. Manage user permissions and provide Sharepoint support to operations unit staff.
• Provide support to regional staff related to sending/received donations or other payments sent to the Philadelphia office.
• Collaborate with the unit staff to improve gift processing so that sound donor relations are maintained or improved. Make recommendations for improvements or adjustments to procedures. With the Director of Donor Operations, maintain and update Donor Operations Procedure Manual.
• Reconcile data in Salesforce against the income batchlog on a weekly basis. Research and correct discrepancies as needed. Prepare files for monthly income close and reconciliation with finance.
• Act as backup for others in the Development Operations unit.
• Support the Operations Unit with duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
EXPERIENCE: Four years of experience in development or customer service required.
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Demonstrated experience in conveying complex matters clearly both in oral and written communication; excellent grammar. Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated experience in communicating well by phone with donors who are often elderly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: The key responsibilities of the Statewide Organizer include the following:
Organizing & Outreach
• Collaborate with AFSC staff and #SecondLookMI coalition members to continue to develop a comprehensive organizing strategy around ending life and long sentences targeting faith communities and outlier jurisdictions in Michigan—in cooperation with program staff and partners.

SUMMARY OF PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Program Coordinator--for ending life and long sentences—will be responsible for administering and growing internal and external projects related to addressing and ending life and long sentences in Michigan. Two main projects that support this work are AFSC’s Michigan Criminal Justice Program’s Good Neighbor Project (GNP) and Let Me Tell You: Every Sentence has a Story (LMTY). The GNP connects life and long serving people in Michigan’s prisons with people in the community in guided and supported co-mentorship relationships. The person will also help coordinate www.letmetellyoumi.org A storytelling project intended to humanize people serving long time in Michigan’s prisons and support the efforts to change... sentencing laws in Michigan in order to get more people free.
The coordinator will work with other program staff to advocate both individually and collectively for and with long serving people in Michigan’s prisons; assist with recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers and interns for the GNP, LMTY, and other visionary work; organize with formerly and currently incarcerated people, interested community members, and loved ones of people impacted by the punishment system; help develop messaging to dismantle current public safety narratives (tough on crime, police make us safe); and educate the public on criminal legal and punishment systems issues in Michigan; work in coalition with other organizations dedicated to challenging the punishment system and working towards prison depopulation for long serving people.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: The key responsibilities include the following:
• Continue to engage outreach strategies to build the Good Neighbor Project while enhancing the political involvement of both community members and people in prison in the work to end life and long sentences.
• Continue to develop and enact a comprehensive organizing strategy around ending life and long sentences targeting faith communities and outlier jurisdictions in Michigan—in cooperation with program staff and partners.
• Utilize and further develop the Good Neighbor Project, Let Me Tell You, and other tools to support ongoing and new organizing efforts.
• Support program staff in advocacy help & resources, including the formation of freedom strategies and plans, for and with people serving long sentences in Michigan
• Continue to organize with other program staff to close prisons in MI, particularly the one women’s prison.
• Help lead coalitions and mobilize people to challenge the use of punishment-based systems in MI, including ending life and long sentences.
• Develop relationships with people in prison by always providing responses and never being extractive.
• Build relationships with policy stakeholders in various power positions throughout the state in order to influence policy and shift narratives on punishment in MI.
• Develop and provide workshops and political education opportunities inside Michigan prisons and/or in the community, to support all work.
Volunteers and Interns
• In coordination with program director and other staff, supervise, coordinate, train, and provide ongoing support and mentorship to all volunteers and interns.

Communications
