Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AISC staff in all departments to ensure transparency, collaboration, and efficiency.
• Actively develop market development resources and recommend ways to improve them.
• Engage and support various groups and committees that advance the steel bridge industry, including but not limited to: the AASHTO/NSBA Steel Bridge Collaboration, the AISI/SMDI Bridge Task Force, the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance, the Accelerated Bridge Construction - University Transportation Center, and the AASHTO Subcommittee on Bridges and Structures.
• Manage a continuous flow of marketing information into the AISC and NSBA web sites, Modern Steel Construction magazine, and other appropriate internal and external communication channels.
• Support all bridge-related market development needs of the AISC Steel Solutions Center to ensure the timeliness and quality of the conceptual solutions provided.
• Promote AISC/NSBA membership to all members of the steel bridge supply chain.
• Attend AISC and NSBA meetings and events, including NASCC: The Steel Conference and World Bridge Symposium
• Attend national AASHTO meetings/conferences/events and regional bridge related meetings/conferences.

Qualifications

• Identify and connect with full member fabricators that are willing to engage and help, and understand exactly what they do.
• A Specialist connects a Full Member fabricator with a decision-maker to provide input on either a current or future project. This connection may or may not be the result of providing a conceptual solution to the decision-maker.
• A Decision-Maker reaches out to a Specialist (unsolicited) with an opportunity (Project or Other Decision-Maker).
• Decision-Makers that Specialists have developed relationships with are utilizing the network of tools AISC offers.

Essential responsibilities include the following but not limited to:

This plan will require supervisor approval and ongoing status updating to the department’s leadership team.
• Focus on AISC Full Members (fabricators, mills & service centers), target accounts, key contact networks, project opportunities, and decision-maker outreach:
• Identify target accounts, decision-makers and new business development opportunities.
• Develop and maintain key contacts and associated project opportunities.
• Meet with decision makers virtually and in person, present to local offices, and attend networking events and trade shows.

Summary:
This position supports the technical activities across all areas of the Engineering and Research department, including our research program, technical publications, and the Steel Solutions Center, as described below.
As Staff Engineer, you will serve as the first point of contact for inquiries into the AISC Steel Solutions Center which includes managing and distributing both phone and email technical inquiries. We will provide training, including how to provide technical assistance and how to assist Structural Steel Specialists with the development of conceptual solutions. You will also provide technical support for all areas within Engineering & Research that lead to the development of specifications, manuals, design guides, and other technical publications and products. • Operate academic equipment (i.e., projectors, televisions, computer learning stations, etc.)

• Provide a scheduled review period to go over desired learning objectives and answer questions in preparation for student academic examinations/practical exercises

• Develop, review, and respond to end-of-phase and end-of-course critiques of academic instruction. Coordinate all critiques IAW the governing syllabus. Coordinate all student comments and courseware corrections, to include errata sheets, with the Government prior to use in the classroom. Provide completed critiques/student’s comments to the course manager for review.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive graduate evaluation plan used to determine academic instruction effectiveness, based on students feedback gained during practical field Falconer experience.
• Assist with maintaining continuity folders, reference material, audiovisual library, films, tapes and lesson courseware.
• On a not-to-interfere basis with course execution schedules, provide air component-related expertise for exercise support.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher from a regionally accredited University or College
• Attend and successfully complete Government-provided instructor certification requirements
