JOB INFORMATION The Correctional Officer Trainee is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Corrections. Positions are located throughout the state. This is correctional security work as a trainee that consists of formal and on-the-job training of the policies and procedures associated with the custody and rehabilitation of inmates within a correctional institution. No written examination is required. No employment register is maintained. The incumbent enforces Federal and appropriate State and City criminal codes (and VA Directives and Regulations originating in Federal statute) in the physical protection of patients, visitors and employees; the protection of property of the United States (U.S.) Government and personal property on VA controlled property; the protection of the civil rights of all individuals while on VA controlled property; and in the preservation of peaceful environment requisite to the· operation of medical treatment programs.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in Police Science or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position.

OR

Successful completion of one year of specialized experience to at least the GS-4 grade level (or equivalent pay band) in the Federal service that has provided the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Police Officer. Specialized experience is work that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. At this level, police work must have included patrolling assigned area(s) to enforce laws and ordinances, regulate traffic, control crowds, prevent crimes and/or arrest violators. Experience as a security guard or corrections officer is generally NOT qualifying.

Equivalent combinations of education and specialized experience.

NOTE: Successful completion of a Federal, State, county, or municipal police academy or comparable training course that included at least 40 classroom hours of instruction in police department procedures and methods, and local law and regulations, may be substituted for a maximum of 3 months of specialized experience. Documentation of completion of such a program must be submitted with the application in order to receive credit.

GS-6: Successful completed one year of specialized experience to at least the GS-5 grade level (or equivalent pay band) in the Federal service that has provided the candidate with knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Specialized experience includes maintaining order to protect life and property; taking initial complaints; interviewing witnesses; securing a crime scene and conducting limited searches; responding to emergency situations; gathering information and preparing reports; conducting routine patrol, traffic control, and traffic accident investigations. Experience as a security guard or corrections officer is generally not qualifying. You must provide detailed information of your experience performed. Information such as "I was a Patrolman", "I was a Police Officer for a number of years," or "I enforced Federal, State, county, and laws" is insufficient to determine your qualifications.

NOTE: Examples of this specialized experience must be documented within your resume.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: Routine patrol requires regular and recurring physical exertion, long hours of standing, walking, driving and similar activities. Responds to alarms, pursues suspects, participates in training activities, climbs stairs and walks during assigned foot patrols in and around the large buildings. Agility, dexterity and strength are needed to pursue, apprehend and detain uncooperative suspects. On a regular and recurring basis, the work requires strenuous exertion physically restraining disorderly individuals to prevent harm to others or the individual. Police work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Police Officers may work prolonged hours, especially during inclement weather or during a disaster situation. The incumbent is expected to maintain a high standard of physical fitness and hand and eye coordination in order to maintain his or her semi-annual qualification with his or her assigned firearm and annual qualification with his or her assigned departmental issued intermediate weapons.

Additional Requirements:
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must successfully complete the VA Law Enforcement Training Center (LETC) Academy.
• Must successfully complete a physical agility test (one mile run, push ups, and sit-ups) using the VA LETC standards prior to appointment.
• Must achieve and maintain qualification on agency-approved firearms, intermediate weapons, and CPR.

Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking experienced candidates to provide military weapon systems analysis support in support of Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) Scientific and Technical Intelligence (S&TI) missions. In this role, candidates must understand military equipment and will provide technical consultation and recommend updates or corrections in technical applications and analysis. Candidates must be familiar with developing and apply advanced methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced software applications and problems related to adversary weapon systems.

Candidates will use expertise in foreign weapon systems and intelligence community (IC) workflows to lead projects or programs, develop key business relationships, and support development of long-range marketing plans and win strategies within IC markets. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency across a substantial breadth of technology and be adept at leveraging capabilities between a multiplicity of hardware, software, and systems products and applications.

The successful candidate must possess a strong foundation in weapon system analysis and IC knowledge-management systems. Preferred candidates will have experience managing programs and analyst teams in direct support of DIA organizations and have experience with one or more of the following

Characterization of foreign missile threats

All-source SA&TI data analysis to include SIGINT

Analysis of surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems

Analysis of short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) systems

Modeling and simulation (M&S) of foreign weapon systems to include TMAP or ITASE

Job Requirements

BS degree or higher in engineering, math, or physics from an accredited university with over 15 plus years of experience. The preferred candidate will have over 15 years leadership experience in one or more of the following areas

Foreign military systems

S&TI data analysis

Foreign Material Exploitation (FME)

Modeling and Simulation

Material Terms and Conditions of the Job Offer:

Workers are needed to begin work on April 1, 2023 through November 30, 2023.

Anticipated days and hours of work per week: employees will be assigned to one of two shifts: 6:30am to 2:30pm or 2:00pm to 11:00pm; Wednesday through Monday.

Worksite addresses: 101 E Beach Blvd Gulf Shores, AL 36542; 100 E 2nd Ave. Gulf Shores, AL 36542; 128 E 1st Ave. Gulf Shores, AL 36542.

Workers will be provided with daily transportation to and from the worksite in compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations.

Overtime hours will be available to the workers and payable at the rate of $17.36.

Workers will be provided with on-the-job training to perform the duties assigned.

Workers will be provided, without charge or deposits charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned.

Employer will provide housing (optional) at a cost of $125 per week.

Employer will make all deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law. $125 per week will be deducted for workers who choose to live in employer-provided housing.

Employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Workers will be paid bi-weekly.

Workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (except passport fees).

If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will arrange and pay directly for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subseqent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker's voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily meals will be provided at a rate of at least $14 per day during travel to a maximum of $59 per day with receipts.

The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
