Position Summary:

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) School of Social Work is growing! We are recruiting six (6) full-time tenure track faculty: four (4) assistant professors, one (1) assistant/associate professor, and one(1) open-rank professor to teach in our BSW and MSW programs. These positions are responsible for advancing research, teaching, and service in addressing elevated social issues in the State of Alaska. These positions will start fall semester, 2023.

• Teaching Social Work courses across the BSW and MSW Curricula • Mentoring students from varied and diverse cultural backgrounds, including advisement • Conducting scholarship appropriate to rank • Providing service to the University, profession, and/or community • Faculty engagement with partner community agencies for collaboration in instruction, field practicum and research. • Assisting with curriculum development and support accreditation reaffirmation by CSWE • Participate in Faculty Meetings • Other related duties as assigned or needed

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and its community campuses are located in some of the most breathtaking settings in the world. The attractive wooded campus at the foot of the Chugach Mountains serves as a central hub for Alaska’s largest city. Serving more than 22,000 students, UAA is the largest of the three universities in the UA system. The School of Social Work has accredited BSW and MSW programs designed to prepare practitioners to meet the social service needs of a large, diverse, multi-cultural state. The MSW delivers instruction through distance delivery to students living in Alaska with practicum experiences available in the students’ home communities. The BSW is primarily campus-based, with courses offered rotationally in a distance format. The UAA School of Social Work enjoys considerable community support and prepares students for addressing the needs of diverse populations in rural, remote, and urban areas of the State of Alaska. The curriculum involves course delivery through face-to-face, hybrid, and distanced delivered courses, and all courses are highly accessible to students residing outside of Anchorage. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: We seek faculty members who are versatile, independent colleagues who can teach an array of courses in both BSW and MSW programs and who can produce high quality research and dissemination that benefits Alaskans and the circumpolar North; we are especially interested in individuals who can meld an individual research program while responding A strong commitment and the ability to forward anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist teaching, equitable, and inclusive teaching, research, and service is essential to community needs and requests for research assistance. TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Experience in working with diverse students, supporting student progression, and assisting students in achieving academic and professional success.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

• MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program;

• Minimum of two years of post-MSW practice experience; and

• An earned doctoral degree in social work or a related field. Candidates who are ABD

during the application process must complete their degrees before employment begins.

SALARY INFORMATION:

These are full-time, 9-month, tenure track exempt Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and open rank faculty positions. Salary will be based upon applicable academic preparation and experience. Award of rank will be commiserate with University of Alaska Promotion and Tenure guidelines and UAA College of Health, School of Social Work and inclusive prior years of service will be negotiated at offer in addition to a full employee benefits package.

Assists with improving lending policies, procedures, and workflows. Provides assistance to staff at other library institutions. Work with Income Manager on invoices.
