The Team Leader, Outpatient Coding is responsible for the overisght and management of: outpatient coding and auditing, denials management related to outpatient coding, and supporting outpatient quality activities of the health system through chart audits, education of the medical staff and other key resources, and reporting any identified trends. This position supervises the performance of the employees in the outpatient coding and outpatient auditing areas of Health Information Management. Must be capable of accurate coding analysis for accuracy and optimal reimbursement, staff supervision, performance management and process improvement. Objectives are to achieve and maintain high performing coding standards and strong system cash flow. The Team Leader, Outpatient Coding will perform all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• High School Diploma or GED and 4 years directly reated experience (Required) OR
• 2 year / Associate Degree in Health Information Management or related medical degree

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• 2 years ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding preferably in a hospital setting. (Required)
• 2 year Experience calculating APC and other payer reimbursement methodologies. (Preferred)
• 2 years Broad knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology. (Required)
