What you do:
As Underwriting Principal – Innovations, you'll meaningfully contribute to Allianz Life's growth and long-term success by researching, evaluating, testing, and implementing new tools and programs to advance the underwriting process, improving the applicant experience, and increasing producer loyalty. Working with the Underwriting Vendor Director and others, you will build strong relationships with key vendor relationships, and identify new opportunities. You will be a main contributor the multi-year roadmap for continuous improvement in the Policy Acquisition Ecosystem.

• Serve as a critical part to the placement of Life Insurance coverage and can directly impact our position in the marketplace and relationship with distribution partners
• Focus on mortality by evaluating risk of death, which includes history, degree of medical maintenance, treatment, and flags of potential future risk
• Performs the research and analysis to prepare recommendations for modifications in current tool usage, as well is implementing new tools.
• Leads pilots to test new tools and processes.
• Meets with important partners, reinsurers, and vendors to keep abreast of new technology, data sources, and processes that can improve the underwriting process.
• Works with Life Ops Enablement Team to identify important areas for automation, including development, implementation, and expansion of the instant decision process.
• Partners with Forensic Underwriter to identify gaps and trends in the fluidless programs, with a goal of increasing the fluid-less rate, without negatively affecting pricing assumptions.
• Will present findings, recommendations, and roadmap plans to all levels of leadership.
Complexity of Assignments: • Requires in-depth knowledge and experience with accelerated/fluidless programs, the use of underwriting digital health data sources, and underwriting rules output. • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve process, programs or services. • Prepares and presents at the executive level program results and recommendations.
What you bring:
• 7+ years of underwriting experience with proficiency in all underwriting processes and philosophies to include cardiac background and older age underwriting; ability to handle advanced decision level authorities without a co-signature
• Completion of LOMA 280/281 and 290/291; actively working toward AALU and FLMI; Professional Designations: AALU/FALU and FLMI preferred
• PC and typing skills to include general Microsoft skills required to data enter and process information; extremely comfortable with web-based underwriting analysis tools and imaging systems
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build rapport and gain acceptance at all levels internally and externally while exercising diplomacy and resourcefulness
• Critical thinking skills and attention to detail with ability to quickly identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events
• Ability to interpret meaning of information for others; translating or explaining what information means and how it can be used
• Ability to develop specific goals, plan, and prioritize work
Range $78,000 - $156,000
Actual base salary may vary based on factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity of peers, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual incentive program.

The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Regional Head of Strategic Partnerships, this position is responsible for broker relationship management and business development. This includes day-to-day oversight of identified key broker partners and execution of targeted premium growth, retention, and profitability across all lines of business. Responsibilities also include Broker Sales Planning, Broker Engagement Model, pipeline development and management, business analysis, remuneration, and governance in line with Global Distribution.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
• Spearhead annual sales planning with assigned brokers, including business development, strategic engagement, retention initiatives, cross-selling opportunities (pipelining), and profitability.
• Identify areas of focus based on broker organization and structure (industry verticals, centers of competence, etc.) and execute strategically and in tandem with Distribution and Lines of Business
• Identify Regional business development opportunities, including new markets, target segments and clients, in collaboration with the broader Distribution Team (Zone Leaders, Broker Relationship Managers, Key Account Managers, etc.) and Lines of Business
• Build and execute pipeline across all Lines of Business using external and internal data sources.
• Act as a product advocate to escalate new business opportunities, key renewals, and outstanding issues with senior management of Broker Partners.
• Consistent and Disciplined approach to Distribution and Line of Business Engagement, Communication, and Collaboration to ensure alignment with goals and priorities.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
• Minimum of 11 years significant experience in industrial or specialty insurance industry in front-line business development.
• Well established within their local market with recognized long-term relationship building with brokers at the peer group level.
• Using outstanding ability to define segmentation and client differentiation strategies, knowledge of large risks and specialty risk insurance will be vital to this role.
• Preferably a master’s degree in Business, Economics, Law, or an appropriate discipline with completion of a professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII).
The annualized base pay range for this role is $162,792-$279,062. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you do:
Assess the medical and financial risk for routine and complex cases up to $5,000,000 sign off authority, and assigns the proper risk class to the case. Communicate underwriting decisions to the producer or FMO and work with internal distribution to communicate the offer. Act as a mentor for less experienced underwriters. May travel, and deliver presentations, representing Allianz Life at industry events and to distribution partners. You will report into the Underwriting Manager.
· Able to work through difficult formal and informal cases by reviewing medical records, medical exams, financial documents, telephone interviews, and other underwriting requirements to determine proper risk class assessment following company guidelines.
· Document risk assessment information and underwriting decisions within system application.
· Communicate underwriting decisions with field distribution, agents, and FMOs. Build rapport by educating on additional strategies that can be used to present adverse decisions to clients, and education on our products, requirements and underwriting philosophy.
· Correspond with internal and external customers regarding the status of cases, including field and internal distribution partners, the medical community, reinsurers and vendors.
· Participate on department projects as assigned and share knowledge/mentor other underwriters and Enterprise Operations employees.
What you bring:
· 4-5 years’ experience required: Life or long term care underwriting
· 6-7 years’ experience preferred: Life Underwriting
· Four-year degree required: Business, communications, or medical fields of study or equivalent work experience
Range $56,000 - $112,000

What you do:
Assess the medical and financial risk for routine and complex cases up to $5,000,000 sign off authority, and assigns the proper risk class to the case. Communicate underwriting decisions to the producer or FMO and work with internal distribution to communicate the offer. Act as a mentor for less experienced underwriters. May travel, and deliver presentations, representing Allianz Life at industry events and to distribution partners. You will report into the Underwriting Manager.
· Able to work through difficult formal and informal cases by reviewing medical records, medical exams, financial documents, telephone interviews, and other underwriting requirements to determine proper risk class assessment following company guidelines.
· Document risk assessment information and underwriting decisions within system application.
· Communicate underwriting decisions with field distribution, agents, and FMOs. Build rapport by educating on additional strategies that can be used to present adverse decisions to clients, and education on our products, requirements and underwriting philosophy.
· Correspond with internal and external customers regarding the status of cases, including field and internal distribution partners, the medical community, reinsurers and vendors.
· Participate on department projects as assigned and share knowledge/mentor other underwriters and Enterprise Operations employees.
What you bring:
· 4-5 years’ experience required: Life or long term care underwriting
· 6-7 years’ experience preferred: Life Underwriting

Range $56,000 - $112,000

Respond to inbound customer inquiries using the following channels of communication:
Email – Using exceptional written skills, respond to customers using professional written email correspondence.
Telephone – Provide professional verbal responses to customer inquiries.
Escalate customer concerns/issues to the Manager for resolution if all other means of satisfying the customer have been exhausted.
Anticipate customer needs by providing relevant solutions.
Responsible for learning products and staying up-to-date on new product or policy changes in order to communicate such changes to the customers.
May perform other duties as assigned.Travel
Accurately enter pertinent customer data and research customer information.
Send out claim forms and answer claims status questions.
Review and resolve pending policy inquiries.Bankcard
Answer inbound telephone calls from credit card holders and respond professionally to customers benefit or claim inquiries.
Enter customer information into PeopleSoft within established guidelines.
Initiate claims process where applicable by sending claimant requested forms.
Responsible for fulfillment; send out claim documents or brochures.
Assist team members with customer service issues as needed.
What you bring
High school diploma or equivalent diploma.
Two (2) years of experience in customer service call center environment.
