Draft, review and edit grant agreements, subgrants, and contracts for goods and services, memoranda of agreement/understanding, and other agreements to ensure that providers the agreements comply with the law, including the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Association policies and procedures. May negotiate with suppliers regarding terms and conditions.
Provide legal advice on compliance for grant agreements with numerous funding and partner agencies, including federal government entities, state government entities, non-profits, and private foundations. Provide legal advice on overseas and domestic grant-funded operations.
Train staff on all aspects of contracting process and advise program and operations staff.
Develop policies, procedures, best practices, and recommendations for improvements pertaining to procurement, contractual matters, purchasing, and other practices supported by federal, state, and private funds.
Provide legal advice and counsel to Association staff. Conduct legal research, provide legal analysis, and prepare written opinions and other documents as required in a broad range of legal practice areas.
Support assigned business units within the Association for all legal advice and counsel needs. Support may be aligned with a specialized practice of law, contract law, and/or general practice.
Provide legal support to other areas of practice within the General Counsel's Office on major cases and/or initiatives.

Required Education, Qualifications, Experience

Possession of a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
Member in good standing in possession of an active license to practice law in the State of Illinois or District of Columbia/Maryland/Virginia.
A minimum of 8 years’ experience as a practicing attorney with progressive responsibilities (in law firm, government or inhouse setting), including experience with federal grants, state grants, foundation grants, subgrants, federal contracts, compliance with federal and state regulations, and general contracting.

Job Summary/General Purpose of Job

Principal job within ABA ProBAR accountable for the day-to-day management, administrative, and operational aspects sourcing, training, and the appropriate optimization of external, pro bono licensed attorneys in support of the provision of an array of immigration legal services. • Accountable for sourcing, recruiting, training and day-to-day management of pro bono immigration attorneys supporting ABA ProBAR initiatives to assist in ensuring the provision of high quality pro se assistance and pro bono representation in South Texas.
• Assists in the development and presentation of legal training and supporting materials, for private bar, government, and public interest attorneys.
• Accountable for pro bono attorneys to ensure the provision of quality legal services which align with the expectations of ProBAR and the Commission on Immigration. Provides ongoing supervision of staff, including coaching and evaluating annual performance. Mentors volunteers, as needed.
• Utilizes advance immigration law knowledge base to assist in individual matters and involves ProBAR and Commission staff on more complex or geographically specific matters.
• Leads and manages trips with teams of pro bono attorneys to provide pro se assistance and representation to detained adults and unaccompanied minors. Actively participates in and assists others in development and communications initiatives and seeks support funds and services for ABA ProBAR projects and pro bono program.

Required Education, Qualifications, Experience
• Possession of a Juris Doctor or LLM from an ABA accredited law school.
• At least three years’ experience practicing immigration law as an attorney.
• License to practice law in a US state or territory.
• Must have reliable transportation to travel between office and off-site work locations.

Job Summary/General Purpose of Job
• Responsible for an assigned list or portfolio of members/potential members to target for remote sales development calls. Conducts outbound sales calls to grow ABA membership and secure renewals. ProBAR Unaccompanied Children Legal Services Specialists are professional advocates for detained immigrant children who use creativity, compassion, and training in immigration law to prepare children for successful client-attorney relationships and empower them as respondents before immigration authorities. Job Summary / General Purpose of Job

Accountable for providing child-friendly legal orientation and legal screenings to detained unaccompanied children regarding immigration removal proceedings and access to representation. Also responsible for additional follow-up legal services as required. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of services delivered and information collected. • Conduct trauma-informed, child-friendly, and age- and language appropriate individual legal screening at detention facility to unaccompanied children within 10 days of arrival.
• Conduct sponsor intakes as appropriate and meet individually with children too young to receive regular Know Your Rights presentations, in addition to follow-up interviews needed to complete relief-eligibility determination or as required.
• Prepare children aging out for transfer to ICE Custody, by delivering “age-out talks” to unaccompanied children nearing their 18th birthday.
• Participate and engage in regular training regarding provision of child-friendly service delivery, including services tailored to special needs populations, pregnant/parenting, tender-age, non-Spanish speaking, and LGBTQIA youth. Share relevant unaccompanied children migration or detention trends and challenges in services delivery, including via mandatory attendance at ProBAR monthly round tables.
• Stay apprised of current legal framework relevant to orientation and interviewing related to child respondents in immigration removal proceedings, including Texas mandatory reporting statute, as well as current events affecting child migration from Central America and any other region commonly affecting detention facilities in South Texas.
