This is an AmeriCorps VISTA Leader Position (Volunteer Year of Service w/ Bi-Weekly Living Allowance)

Member Duties : The goal of the SHRA VISTA Leader is to coordinate the communications (i.e. website and social media platforms), data collection/reporting, and support 4 VISTA members for a place based initiative that focuses on creating cross sector collaboration to improve distressed communities. In addition, the leader will manage a structure that facilitates the intense collaborative efforts of a dedicated cadre of stakeholders; residents, local governments, private businesses, non-profit organizations, and federal agencies as they carry out the goals and activities of the initiative.

Service Description: The VISTA Leader for SHRA is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a highly organized and enterprising individual to manage the structure, communications, goals, interventions, and outcomes of a place based initiative. The SHRA VISTA Leader will focus on providing support and facilitating access to services and resources that contribute to improving the quality of life for underserved populations. The individual in this position will strengthen the collaborative network of stakeholders; residents, non-profit organizations, municipal entities, and businesses that are committed to supporting the goals of the place based initiative. The Leader will coordinate 4 additional VISTA members as they facilitate their action teams, plan, develop and implement new strategies to improve the quality of life for residents within distressed communities. Note that VISTA Leader must have already completed one year of service in the AmeriCorps, VISTA, NCCC, or Peace Corps programs.

Job Description

Monitor summer feeding sites to ensure proper safety & food handling of meals served, ensure required forms and documentation is completed properly to remain compliant with federal program requirements. Maintain open communication with all program stakeholders ensuring sites are operating effectively. Provide additional training as necessary, reconcile discrepancies with diplomacy and tact, and provide progress reports to program manager.

Summer Food Service Program runs through: June 19, 2023 until August 18, 2023.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Build positive relationships with all program stakeholders, such as managers, coworkers, site volunteers, community partners, and program participants.
• Visit feeding sites to observe operations, make corrections as needed, and provide on-going feedback to maintain and improve performance.
• Ensure the quality and safety of meals served.
• Continuously monitor required forms & documentation for accuracy and completion.
• Provide training, feedback, and successfully encourage others involved in the program to achieve positive results.
• Answer questions, provide direction, and resolve issues that may arise in the day to day operation.
• Provide reports as required by supervision.
• Other duties as assign.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent, with some college helpful.

Must have a valid driver’s license, and good driving record.

Must have reliable transportation.

Must be 18 years old or older

Must be able to pass a background check

Specific, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Highly developed verbal, written and computer skills.

Excellent planning and organizational skills.

Ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently under

general supervision.

Ability to work in partnership with community and other staff

members.

Must have attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills.
