Appian is seeking a Director of Digital Technology, which will build a strategic vision for implementing and operating our digital presence including our public facing websites, community platform, social channels, and app marketplace.This individual will be responsible for the successful execution of projects within this ecosystem, providing technical guidance, management, and leadership. This is an exciting new role at Appian, which will lead initiatives in solutioning, managing, and releasing components for a digital platform managed through cross team functional efforts and collaboration with business partners across the enterprise.
In this role you will report to the VP, Business Technology. You will use your strong business judgment and decision-making skills to identify, prioritize, and articulate the highest impact initiatives. Your focus will be on delivering a platform that automates, integrates, and positions new and existing products and solutions to increase reach, engagement, customer loyalty, and revenue. In pursuit of this goal, you’ll collaborate with teams across all functional areas at Appian. This includes working with Business Technology staff to ensure system and environment stability and security; collaborating with Marketing and Finance teams to develop conversion targets, forecast revenue, and analyze key customer statistics and trends; and managing technical teams to drive projects through design, development, QA, and release.
This role is based at Appian's Headquarters in McLean, VA. Employees hired for this position will have the opportunity to work in a flexible, hybrid environment. We're targeting candidates who can reliably join us in office 3 days a week -- if you are not already located in the DC Metropolitan Area, your willingness to relocate will be a contingency for this position.
To be successful in this role, you will:
• Lead planning and implementation of customer-facing digital platforms.
• Work with business users to identify and prioritize necessary applications, analytics, systems, and enhancements, and manage cross-functional teams to develop and implement them.
• Negotiate contracts with vendors, and engage and manage work of outside consultants as required to deliver on the roadmap.
• Build and deliver robust business cases to support project and vendor investments, and communicate and present to all levels of the organization.
• Develop sound governance processes to maintain the platform, issue management, environment and code migration strategies, change management etc.
• Collaborate closely with business partners and support them with digital business functions.

Basic qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in STEM, Business Administration, e-Commerce, or a related field.
• 12-15+ years of experience working with digital products
• An established leader working with agile/scrum teams to iteratively prioritize and deliver high value and high quality digital products.
• Extensive knowledge of external customer-facing digital tools, solutions, technologies and tactics, especially in a componentized framework to be leveraged by CMS engineers -- Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) ecosystem experience a large plus.
• Knowledge of building reusable content components and page templates.
• Experience breaking down initiatives into epics and user stories, articulating requirements and acceptance criteria clearly.
• Strong influencing skills and motivated to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, diverse environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to haves:
• An advanced degree, a Master's or MBA, is preferred.
• Experience leading a Marketing / Digital Technology team.
• Production experience deploying app marketplaces.

We are looking for an enterprise technical support engineer with superb customer management skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Internally you would be known as a Lead Solution Engineer, working as a member of the overall account success team, focusing on the premier platform support experience for their assigned customers.

To be successful in this role, you will:
• Actively monitor and assist in the resolution of technical support cases created by assigned Premier Support Accounts. Act as the escalation point of contact for assigned Premier accounts and orchestrate Appian’s response on escalated issues.
• Develop relationships with customer accounts by conducting onboarding meetings with new Premier Support accounts, and become an expert on their implementations. Customers trust the premier support team as their experts and point-of-contacts, since they are usually their most consistent and frequent touchpoints with Appian.
• Leverage understanding of customers to identify and communicate themes in customer pain points to internal leadership, driving long-term improvements for customers.
• Drive customer communications with assigned Premier Support accounts to review the overall health and status of their applications, the status of open support issues, new releases and upgrade plans, and any other significant upcoming events or project milestones.

As a Sales Engineer, you will actively drive and manage the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical adviser and product advocate. This will include designing high quality technical Proof of Concepts, presenting technical and business aspects of proposed solutions to a wide variety of business and technical audiences, and assisting in the production of RFPs and other proposals to clients. Using technical creativity and business acumen, you will illustrate the value that Appian’s platform can provide across target accounts that may span multiple Account Executives. You will rapidly identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. You will also represent Appian’s product at field events (conferences, summits, seminars, etc.) and assist with the radiation strategy within target accounts.
To be successful in this role, you need:
• Technical depth to respond to all functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
• Recent experience in a modern programming language such as Java, C#, Python, C++, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, XML, XSL, etc.
• Experience working in an enterprise software sales position (Business Process Management Platforms, Low Code Platforms, or Application Development Platform experience preferred)
