About the Role:

The internship position is responsible for supporting the Absence Consulting and Audit Practice team at Brown & Brown Strategic Non-Medical Solutions (SNS). This position will primarily help our Senior Compliance Consultant support our Absence Consulting team. During the time of the internship, the participant will be exposed to a wide variety of leave of absence and accommodation employer-sponsored programs, federal and state laws and legislation, and compliance research and will learn key industry terms and practices.

Core Responsibilities:
• Responsible for assisting with employment law compliance research and resource/intellectual capital creation, which includes but is not limited to:
• Monitoring changes to United States and Canadian leave of absence and accommodation laws to ensure compliance of processes and documents.
• Tracking pending state and federal legislation.
• Contributing to client compliance discussions and business activities.
• Drafting for peer review employer- and employee-facing communications, employer policies, and program materials and documents.
• Translating complex legal concepts into clear, concise, and appealing content.
• Be responsible for tracking and researching legal and regulatory requirements that impact client programs in partnership with the Senior Compliance Consultant and outside counsel as needed.
• Respond to questions and escalations that may involve policy, plan, practice, and program for compliance issues experienced by clients in partnership with the Senior Compliance Consultant and outside counsel as needed.
• Shadow and partner with Absence teammates on various projects.
Skills Required:
• Enrolled in a bachelor's degree program; Human Resources, Psychology, English, History, or Law preferred.
• Must be familiar with MS Excel, MS Teams and MS Word
• Strong written and verbal communication with ability to work well individually and as part of a team
