The Practice Leader must be a strong leader, able to inspire, motivate and build teams, and communicate effectively. This role will collaborate with JMT executive leadership, practice leaders, and regional/office leaders to drive growth and success for transportation clients and our staff in their areas.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Update/expand our Strategic Plan for the Highway Market
• Support growth of technical expertise
• Evaluate needs and foster technical learning opportunities
• Identify and support SMEs within the Practice
• Develop Best Practices and support quality initiatives within the Practice
• Promote work-share across the Practice
• Create positive relationships among the leadership and staff within the Practice
• Monitor active work share activities among offices
• Support identifying workshare needs and making connections among offices
• Promote quality initiatives in work-sharing activities and develop QA/QC processes for work-sharing
• Collaborate and support in the development of large-scale and strategic growth opportunity targets
• Monitor and support pursuit opportunities and major capture efforts
• Make recommendations on market expansion opportunities in growing geographic markets and support marketing efforts in those locations
• Support recruiting efforts across JMT’s footprint to support and accelerate market growth
• Stay active and strive for leadership positions in related industry groups
• Provide support for major marketing campaigns in geographical regions
• Support risk management, pricing, and proposal review processes
• Strengthen and encourage cross discipline collaboration
• Interface with regional/office leaders to support operational performance across practices and regions/offices

Required Skills
Required Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree with 15+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including leadership experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer
• Progressive experience in the Highway planning/design/construction market sector including successful leadership of multi-disciplinary design projects and programs
• Thorough understanding of Highway design and construction processes, regulatory requirements, and business practices
• Strong client and industry relationships
• Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding business growth goals and/or business development metrics
• Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Experience
• Experience with Federal procurement, design and construction
• Experience with Design-Build and other alternative delivery methods
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Occasional visits to field (construction) locations are required. Field work may require climbing, walking, and standing at a construction site and may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs.) may be required. Travel to JMT locations and project sites required as needed.

Job Duties:
Manage day to day operations and develop, prepare and execute annual work plans. Manage staff to assure all efficiencies are being capitalized upon,
and assure all contracted work and in-house work is completed/inspected by staff.
Provide leadership and management for the team. Develop and improve the AMS skills of the existing staff and all new staff to assure efficiencies are
gained at all levels. Assure all staff is actively engaged in AMS initiatives and have established performance measures and associated visual management tools. Manage all personnel actions as required.
Manage the applicable Regional budget and assure all internal and contract expenditures align with the Division and Region’s goals and that all contract work is in compliance with procurement law/rules. Assure all other operating expenditures (OOE) are managed and align with the unit’s allocated budget.
Manage all roadside and roadway features within the applicable Region boundary. Ensure all routes are inspected on a scheduled frequency, assure all
sign knockdowns are addressed and prioritized as applicable, and all signing and striping retroreflectivity meets the required level of service (LOS).
Manage all annual striping efforts and assure all efficiencies are gained and coordinated in conjunction with all planned construction projects and
roadway maintenance surface treatment projects.

Job Duties:
Manage day to day operations and develop, prepare and execute annual work plans. Manage staff to assure all efficiencies are being capitalized upon,
and assure all contracted work and in-house work is completed/inspected by staff.
Provide leadership and management for the team. Develop and improve the AMS skills of the existing staff and all new staff to assure efficiencies are
gained at all levels. Assure all staff is actively engaged in AMS initiatives and have established performance measures and associated visual management tools. Manage all personnel actions as required.
Manage the applicable Regional budget and assure all internal and contract expenditures align with the Division and Region’s goals and that all contract work is in compliance with procurement law/rules. Assure all other operating expenditures (OOE) are managed and align with the unit’s allocated budget.
Manage all roadside and roadway features within the applicable Region boundary. Ensure all routes are inspected on a scheduled frequency, assure all
sign knockdowns are addressed and prioritized as applicable, and all signing and striping retroreflectivity meets the required level of service (LOS).
Manage all annual striping efforts and assure all efficiencies are gained and coordinated in conjunction with all planned construction projects and
roadway maintenance surface treatment projects.

Selective Preference(s):
The ideal candidate is preferred to have 3-years experience as a Highway Operations Supervisor with a focus on highway signing and striping maintenance, or equivalent.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
