We are seeking a driven and innovative Sales Director with a focus on Post-War and Contemporary Art to join our Private Sales Team. In this role, you will be responsible for drafting and implementing sales campaigns to actively grow our client base, while ensuring a best-in-class client experience. Our sales approach puts confidentiality and discretion above all, while applying various digital tools in the process of matching sellers and blue-chip inventory with potential buyers. You will be contributing to the success of the platform by growing revenue and driving sales.
Responsibilities:
Drive quality and performance of sales
• Consign and sell works both autonomously and with the help of the team
• Evaluate and assess incoming consignments with the help of our in-house auction price database as well as our network of galleries and private dealers.
• Facilitate outreach and follow-ups of ongoing campaigns to foster dialogue and expand business opportunity pipeline in close collaboration with Head of Department
• Manage campaign implementation and refine communication strategies within our dedicated CRM software
• Leverage suite of digital tools to scale private sale business and pipeline depth
• Keep abreast of current markets, key players, and competitors, while assisting in developing a competitive department strategy
• Meet and exceed revenue targets and maintain an active opportunity pipeline of both buyers and sellers
Build client base and relationships
• In partnership with Head of Department, conceive, prepare and implement targeted development plan of existing client network
• Actively building new, meaningful relationships, expanding the business’ scope and reach
• Act as a representative of Artnet and build a network of key influencers within the market
• Use knowledge and expertise, such as writing articles, giving lectures, and more, to expand Artnet’s presence and create a competitive advantage

Maximize cross-functional partnerships

Profile / Qualifications:
• BA in art history, art management, or similar, graduate degree a plus
• Approximately 3-5 years of work experience in a sales or sales-supporting role within the contemporary art market

• Proven ability to initiate new business while maintaining existing client relationships

The Collector Lifestyle Editor will be tasked with expanding our coverage of the collector lifestyle category, providing world-class coverage of artists and artworks through the eyes of a collector together with design, architecture, non-art auctions, and inspirational/aspirational art-adjacent lifestyle content. A successful candidate will have both a broad grasp of the tectonic shifts taking place in culture and a firm grip on the rhythms and whims of trending topics online. The person will assign and edit stories according to our fast-paced publishing schedule while making sure every story meets Artnet News’s standards of accuracy, legibility, and insight.
You will be reporting to the Managing Editor of Artnet News, headquartered in our New York office in the historic Woolworth Building, working with the editorial team in New York, Berlin, and London.
Responsibilities:
• Assign and edit 4-7 stories per day, primarily short news items about collecting and art-adjacent topics of interest to the sophisticated collector, from non-art auction news to service-oriented and lifestyle content
• Identify stories from a wide variety of sources just outside the traditional art world, from social media to design and hospitality platforms
• Recruit and work with freelance writers to maintain a steady flow of stories in this coverage area—make sure they are assigned, explained thoroughly, and coming in on time and to word count
• Coordinate with other editors to ensure stories are assigned and published in a timely manner according to our broader editorial plan
• Ensure each story is properly entered into our Wordpress CMS with engaging imagery and thorough metadata
