medication use for all individuals.

Established in 1942, ASHP represents over 60,000 pharmacy
professionals in the United States and has been a leading advocate
for advancing pharmacy practice for over 80 years. It is an
accrediting body for pharmacy residency and technician training
programs and is a steadfast advocate for its members and patients.
The ASHP Foundation, established in 1968, has played a pivotal role
in supporting this mission, raising funds to enhance patient care
by advancing pharmacy practice.

The CEO of the ASHP Foundation will directly report to the Board.
This individual will lead strategic and operational initiatives in
philanthropy, encompassing major gifts, foundation and corporate
giving, planned giving, grants, and events. A significant focus
will be on raising awareness about the critical role of pharmacists
in healthcare, emphasizing their contribution to optimal, safe, and
effective medication use.

The role requires collaboration with ASHP's leadership and the
Foundation board to foster a philanthropic culture within the
organization and among stakeholders, including ASHP members. The
ideal candidate is expected to be collaborative, intellectually
curious, and adaptable and should have a history of engaging
diverse stakeholders in mission-driven environments. They should
excel in building meaningful relationships that lead to impactful
philanthropic contributions.

The CEO should have experience in nonprofit management, preferably
in a healthcare or pharmaceutical context. They must be committed
to the mission of ASHP and experienced in managing a 501(c)(3)
organization, including fiscal responsibility and board governance.
They should understand fiscal management in a nonprofit setting,
especially handling endowments and named funds. This ideal
candidate will have 7-10+ years of experience in fundraising,
program development, board engagement, and administration in a
nonprofit environment. Healthcare philanthropy experience is
preferred, but those with diverse fundraising leadership
backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Be Doing :
• Assists with managing applications, surveys and accreditation for international hospital pharmacy, international pharmacy residency and Center of Excellence certification programs
• Coordinates specific surveys for international accreditation and Center of Excellence certification applicants
• Assists with / contributes to consultant and surveyor recruitment and training
• Identifies prospective clients, lead generation and conversion
• Maintains contact lists and follows up with customers to develop and continue relationships
• Contributes to the development of standards for international hospital pharmacy and residency training programs
• Develops materials to support program development
• Interacts with others to establish / build partnerships and / or improve member / customer relationships
• Develops quality and performance measures in alignment with ASHP Center of Excellence certification standards
• Supports submission and implementation of grants.

What You Bring to ASHP :

Indiana University Health’s ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program emphasizes the development of advanced knowledge and application of pharmacotherapeutics in the provision of multi-disciplinary, quality patient care. This program cultivates the skills of practice management and education and the professional attitudes of self-evaluation, self-improvement, and accountability... The successful resident will demonstrate a desire to learn, sincere interest in the profession, and dedication to achieving all outcomes of the residency.

The ASHP accreditation standard provides criteria that every program must meet in order to receive and maintain accreditation. Although the standard requires experiences in certain core areas, there is room for concentration in a practice area and for additional experiences. Our program includes developing a core skill set in drug information and literature evaluation, pharmacotherapy evaluation and management, project based research and team functioning, presentation development and delivery, and direct patient interaction.

Indiana University Health’s Academic Health Center provides a customizable residency experience in a multi-hospital (2 adult, 1 pediatric) and expansive ambulatory care setting. Required rotations include administration, ambulatory care, critical care, drug information, infectious diseases, internal medicine, pediatrics, and surgery. With over 120 preceptors, subspecialties are available within each required rotation. Residents staff inpatient operations and clinical services and participate in an in-house on call program. A research project is presented at the Great Lakes Pharmacy Residents Conference. Presentation at additional conferences is encouraged. IU Health is the largest hospital system in Indiana and the fourth largest in the nation, based upon the number of beds. Pharmacists are actively involved in prescribing by protocol.
