Although the standard requires experiences in certain core areas, there is room for concentration in a practice area and for additional experiences. Our program includes developing a core skill set in drug information and literature evaluation, pharmacotherapy evaluation and management, project based research and team functioning, presentation development and delivery, and direct patient interaction.
Indiana University Health’s Academic Health Center provides a customizable residency experience in a multi-hospital (2 adult, 1 pediatric) and expansive ambulatory care setting. Required rotations include administration, ambulatory care, critical care, drug information, infectious diseases, internal medicine, pediatrics, and surgery. With over 120 preceptors, subspecialties are available within each required rotation. Residents staff inpatient operations and clinical services and participate in an in-house on call program. A research project is presented at the Great Lakes Pharmacy Residents Conference. Presentation at additional conferences is encouraged. IU Health is the largest hospital system in Indiana and the fourth largest in the nation, based upon the number of beds. Pharmacists are actively involved in prescribing by protocol.

Our PGY2 Pediatric... Pharmacy Residency program is a 52-week residency providing concentrated training in pediatric clinical pharmacy practice. The program is designed to prepare the resident to serve as an integral part of interprofessional teams caring for pediatric patients, incorporating evidence-based care in decisions made by the team and providing leadership in medication-related issues. Residents of the program will have the opportunity to provide care in a wide variety of settings, including pediatric and neonatal intensive care, as well as subspecialties such as pediatric cardiology, hematology / oncology, nephrology, solid organ transplant, and emergency care. Residents completing the program will be prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions, along with board certification (e.g., BCPPS), manage pediatric pharmacy operations, including supervision of staff and optimization of technology to aid in medication preparation and administration. In addition, they will possess the skills to deliver effective training to health care professionals, conduct research, and lead quality improvement initiatives.
The residency offers training in general and subspecialty pediatrics, critical care (PICU, CICU, NICU), emergency medicine, transplantation, ambulatory patient care and practice management. The residency program tailors to the professional goals of the resident by complementing required rotations with a wide selection of elective rotations.
This one year residency begins July 1. The residency offers a stipend of $56,000 and full employee benefits, including medical and dental insurance .
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center provides the ideal tertiary and ambulatory care settings to foster the development of a contemporary pediatric pharmacy practitioner. The resident will participate in daily patient centered interdisciplinary rounds, attend pertinent committee meetings, participate in P&T and Performance Improvement activities and contribute to the teaching activities of the department. The resident will participate in all aspects of medication therapy management provided at the Medical Center.
Each resident will be expected to complete a major residency project during the year in addition to a quality improvement project. The project must deal with a subject pertinent to pharmaceutical care services within the Medical Center. It must be of direct benefit to patient care. The resident is expected to complete the research project and submit a written manuscript in a format suitable for publication.
As part of the total educational experience, the resident will be required to staff the pharmacy every third weekend. The resident will cover distributive activities during this service component.
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center uses PhORCAS (Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service) for their application procedure. All documents must be submitted via PhORCAS as part of the application process.

• A one-page letter of intent describing your reasons for applying to this program.
• A current Curriculum Vitae (including PGY1 experiences).
• Copies of official transcripts from all colleges of pharmacy attended, must include final graduation date

Our ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program at Kettering Health Main Campus is a 52-week post-graduate program that focuses on developing a competent, confident, and well-rounded pharmacist in the acute care setting. The program offers a variety of experiences and has equipped residents for positions in specialized clinical roles, PGY2 training, academia and others. Kettering Health Main Campus has been graduating well-trained PGY1 pharmacy residents since 2013.
Day to day, residents are directly involved in providing pharmaceutical care to patients as part of the multidisciplinary team in a variety of areas including internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, hematology/oncology, antimicrobial stewardship, neonatal intensive care and cardiology. The PGY1 Resident will be trained in Pharmacy Consult Services including pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring, nutrition support, anticoagulation, and antiarrhythmic medication patient counseling. Development of pharmacy leadership skills in both the inpatient administrative and operational realms is also a priority.
PGY1 Residents will receive a competitive stipend, paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, 14 days of paid time off (plus conference travel and selected holidays), and an educational travel allowance for ASHP Midyear Clinical Conference*. The resident will be provided an office with a personal workspace, electronic access to Network library resources, full Microsoft Office365 subscription, drug information software, Pharmacists' Letter, Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification, and more.
