We offer shipping insurance coverage (inland marine) for packages shipped via UPS, FedEx, the USPS and most major shipping carriers. Our rates are at a discount to the carrier rates and the claims process is completely online... and processed quickly. We are a small, casual inside sales agency without walk-in traffic.

We are looking for candidates who are VERY ORGANIZED and have experience dealing with customers via the telephone & email. You must be able to manage emails, faxes, and inbound mail and keep it all organized and accounted for. This position requires someone who is a self starter and does not need to be micro managed. You will be dealing directly with customers regarding their shipping insurance claims and manage the entire process from filing to completion. In addition to claims processing this position will support general customer inquiries. This position relies on being organized and being in contact with customers. Computer and internet experience is a must.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Process and manage large amount of incoming and current claims.
Communicate with customers regarding open claims.
Discuss claims & file claims with the shipping companies, such as UPS & FedEx.
Answer claims inquiries via email, live chat, and telephone.
Answer customer support questions.
What are the requirements needed for this position? Customer service experience and ability to manage potentially irate customers.
Ability to articulate using email and phone.
Ability to multi task and stay organized.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
QuickBooks experience a plus.
Proficient using the Internet for research.
Email communication pro.
Reliable transportation.
Superb attendance record a must.
High School diploma or higher.
An active California P&C Insurance license is preferred, but not mandatory.
This will be a hybrid position with the ideal candidate living within distance to our Woodland Hills, CA location.

Pay Range:
$19.45 - $31.11

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Program/Client accounting results for US GAAP internal and external reporting across the Domestic Auto segment.
• Liaise with Finance, Reinsurance and Actuarial teams, to understand forecasted, planned and actual results and evaluate program/client variances to ensure accuracy against monthly/quarterly closing procedures. Provide insightful commentary for monthly/quarterly analytics explaining variance drivers.
• Coordinate efforts with Accounting, Actuarial, Reinsurance Accounting, Business System Analysts, and Account Executives to drive resolution of financial statement, system, and client data related issues.
• Design and implement advanced data analysis to support the segment financial results.
• Ensure Domestic Auto’s quarterly results are accurate and in accordance with US GAAP and Assurant policies.
• Enhance existing processes and controls within the Financial Reporting function to further strengthen reporting accuracy, efficiency, and clarity.
• Participate in the close process for Domestic Auto to provide updates and key findings and share best practices across teams.

Accounting Policy Guidance
• Liaise with Auto Finance leadership and Office of Accounting Policy for guidance on accounting and financial reporting matters, including issues, new/existing client contracts, M&A transactions, etc. as needed.
• Work with business partners to implement a formal process for identifying and reviewing client contracts prior to execution.
• Work with accounting teams to gain an understanding of client contracts and evaluate key accounting implications.
• Ensure client set up activities are accurate including set-up of end-to-end data flow processes and reports are accurate for financial reporting needs.
• Lead completion of client set-up forms, creation of new coding for programs and blocks of business, and create account mapping summaries for system translation of data to the general ledger in accordance with US GAAP.
• Perform user acceptance testing of new client implementations, system conversions, data corrections, and system enhancements to identify financial statement impact.
• Partner with Actuarial and Finance teams as needed to resolve issues and finalize deal reviews.

Global accounting initiatives and special projects.
• Support the GFS project (migration to a Global ERP), provide Domestic Auto accounting perspective and participate in key workstreams for Domestic Auto to ensure the project is progressing as planned and key stakeholders are engaged.
• Support the Domestic Auto accounting and integration process for M&A transactions.
• Support transformation efforts in Domestic Auto, including identifying higher risk manual processes and make recommendations for process improvements, develop plan/framework with business partners, finance and actuary and work on resolutions with various Domestic Auto accounting teams.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

Education:
• College degree in Accounting, CPA a plus

Experience:
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in an Accounting/Finance role
• Property and Casualty Insurance experience

• Proven track record in outsourcing benchmarking, market analyses and contract negotiations
• Master knowledge of industry standard / best-in-class contract terms and conditions (T&C), especially around information securing and risk management
• Advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills in a team environment
• Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, communication and influencing skills especially with senior level executives
• Demonstrated ability to function in a team environment and highly matrixed, global environment
