• Produce high-quality work that is accurate, fair, balanced, and professional.

• Take digital photos for all stories for web posting.

Position Objective

• Protect zoo guests and staff from harm, theft, or other unlawful activity.
• Prevent property losses and damage by reporting irregularities.
• Monitor alarm systems (e.g. fire, intrusion, life support/ozone) and report any alarm conditions to supervisor, other designated manager (e.g. O&M, Animal Department), and/or public safety agencies (police, fire, EMS) as appropriate and in accordance with standard operating or emergency procedures.
• Perform daily inspection of all areas of assigned post for safety issues (e.g. slip/fall, trip hazards) and take corrective action as appropriate, including temporary closure/path detour of the affected area (cones, caution tape, temporary barricades, stanchions, etc.) until repairs can be completed.
• Monitor service area parking lot or access gates as assigned and assist with oversize vehicle access to the parking lot.
• Observe and report any irregularities or unlawful activity to supervisors and/or public safety agencies (police, fire, EMS), as appropriate.
• Provide consistently excellent customer service to zoo guests and fellow employees. Create a safe and welcoming environment for all zoo guests.
• Enforce the Society's guest rules and regulations and those of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.
• Understand and implement emergency plans as indicated in the emergency manual.
• Complete daily reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities. Complete other reports (e.g. accident reports, lost property) as assigned.
• Attend court appearances as required pertaining to participation in any work-related matter.
• May perform limited ground maintenance work as required such as shoveling snow from security posts and other access points.

• Must successfully pass a background check.

• Voluntary option to obtain and maintain FDNY Certificates of Fitness FO1, F03, F04 Fire Guard in order to be able to work some special events or other temporary functions.
Physical Requirements
The position requires outdoor work in all weather conditions. Walking, running, standing and
climbing several levels of stairs on a routine basis. Tasks require manual dexterity and ability to
safely use tools (e.g. two-way radio, hand truck, hand tools, keyboarding). Some tasks require
climbing, kneeling, bending, navigating uneven terrain, and moderate lifting up to 50 pounds
(e.g. moving temporary barricades, stanchions).

The position requires outdoor work in all weather conditions. Walking, running, standing and

Duties & Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities:
• Research, develop, write, and produce daily news stories on business, the economy, transportation, infrastructure and development for public radio and digital audiences.
• Develop longer feature stories that tell deeper, bigger stories than daily coverage can accommodate.
• Produce high-quality work that is accurate, fair, balanced, and professional.
• Operate field audio equipment and audio editing systems.
• Take digital photos for all stories for web posting.
• Adhere to AZPM’s Code of Editorial Ethics and Practices and AZPM’s Editorial Standards.
• Meet daily deadlines.
• Cultivate sources in the areas of business, the economy, transportation, infrastructure, and development, including connections to local government, businesses, and non-profits, as well as exploring the connection to these topics of state and federal laws and policies, finding local stories that illustrate how changes in these policies affect local issues.
• Rework all broadcast stories for posting for online and social media, adding additional audio, data, links, charts, and maps as needed.
• Substitute/back-up anchor for radio and television newscasts on as-needed basis.
• Operate University of Arizona vehicles to travel to conduct interviews and/or capture audio.
• Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of how to incorporate data and data visualization into reports.
• Working knowledge of audio editing systems (e.g. Adobe Audition, Audacity).
