Details: The School of Media and Communication (http://www.bgsu.edu/smc) seeks

strong applicants for part-time teaching assignments at the undergraduate level in the

areas of communication, media production and studies, journalism, public relations,

advertising and social media. Undergraduate courses could include strategic

communication, interpersonal communication, organizational communication,

leadership, conflict and communication, introductory journalism, broadcast

journalism, new media and journalism, sports reporting, public relations, social media,

video and audio production or script writing. Course could be online or face-to-face.

Starting dates are either August 2023 or January 2024.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a master’s degree in journalism, public

relations, communication or media-related fields or a bachelor’s degree with five or

more years of more professional experience in those areas. Professional experience is

required to teach journalism and public relations courses.

Evidence of successful teaching at the collegiate level is preferred.

Application: Applicants should submit a letter of application, a complete CV, two current

(dated within the past year), original letters of reference, and official transcripts indicating the

highest degree earned and copies of teaching evaluations if available.

Unless otherwise requested, qualified applicants will also be considered for future

part- time employment opportunities that may arise. Finalists will be required to

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Development, the Senior Director of Gift Planning is a key member of the University Advancement fundraising team, leading BGSU planned giving programming and serving as an adviser to leadership and staff. Responsibilities include serving as the primary expert on complex deferred charitable giving tools such as annuities, trusts, life insurance, wills... and bequests, remaining current on BGSU Foundation Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Development, the Senior Director of Gift Planning is a key member of the University Advancement fundraising team, leading BGSU planned giving programming and serving as an adviser to leadership and staff. Responsibilities include serving as the primary expert on complex deferred charitable giving tools such as annuities, trusts, life insurance, wills... and bequests, remaining current on BGSU Foundation gift acceptance policies, the laws and regulations governing planned gifts, and providing planned giving educational sessions and material to Advancement staff and University colleagues. The Senior Director of Gift Planning will identify, cultivate, solicit, close, and steward planned and outright gifts at major ($25,000+) and principal gift ($1,000,000+) levels, benefiting BGSU college and unit priorities, and oversee the 1910 Society, develop and manage a planned giving advisory council, ensure that appropriate documentation exists for all planned gifts and their future designation, maintain the BGSU planned giving website, and lead related marketing efforts to educate donors and prospective donors. The position also will supervise the Assistant Director for Gift Planning.

Full time position with an option for a flexible/hybrid work schedule.

Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
• Identify, cultivate, and solicit planned giving prospects for major and principal level gifts. Manage an active portfolio of assigned donors and prospects and meet assigned metrics for performance.
• Develop and implement a marketing strategy plan to identify and attract legacy prospects through web, mailings, seminars/education sessions, industry partnerships, and alumni engagement activities.
• Provide guidance and training on tools, solicitation strategies, and giving vehicles to University Advancement colleagues. Attend donor visits with fundraising colleagues to assist with presentation of illustrations, legacy gift solicitations and closures. Develop and manage an advisory council of estate, financial planning and banking professionals to support BGSU gift planning objectives.
• Manage the charitable trust, gift annuity, and life insurance programs. Work with industry partners and the Assistant Director for Gift Planning to design, implement, audit, and evaluate current and future programs. Ensure appropriate documentation is collected and maintained for all planned gifts. Remain current in knowledge of charitable and estate planning tools, techniques, and tax legislation changes.
• Supervise and mentor the Assistant Director for Gift Planning.

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
• Must demonstrate experience working with individuals on estate or deferred gift plans.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of planned gift instruments and approaches, as well as estate tax and legal implications.
• Must be an excellent written and verbal communicator with strong organizational and time management skills.

Minimum Qualifications

The following Degree is required:

A Bachelor’s Degree is required; a J.D. is strongly preferred. Degree must be conferred at the time of application. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with the university’s vehicle use policy.

The following Experience is required:
• 8 years of experience in legal estate planning or as a major gift fundraiser or planned giving leader in a higher education or other large, nonprofit setting
• 3 years of supervisory experience is required

Salary

Full-time administrative staff position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Administrative pay grade 359. Full benefits package available.

The scope of these responsibilities is wide and may encompass software and systems exterior to BGSU such as joint projects with other universities (SciQuest) or third party payment systems. Involvement with FMS upgrades and modeling is continuous and ongoing.
• Coordinate, reconcile, and monitor payment processing of both accounts payable and Bursar’s student refund checks and ACH transaction processing.
• Coordinate the resolution and reporting of independent contractors per IRS and State of Ohio regulations.
• Participate in department, division, and University projects and committees as required.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

The following Education is required:
