The Role

Bitly is looking for a Vice President of Data to develop and deliver a Data Platform that drives the business forward and robust business intelligence processes that enable data driven decision making across the company. Data is core to how we operate business. As such, this is a critical role that requires cross-functional alignment, strategic visioning and execution, and an expertise in translating business strategy into data strategy. You will work closely with your colleagues and teams to plan, build, and extend data warehouses that help the company answer questions on metrics such as but not limited to product usage, conversion, churn and revenue. You will also set the long-term vision and strategic direction of Bitly’s data and BI architecture and design the future state of organization, including building a vision for surfacing insights leveraging data science and AI tools.

What You'll Do
• Lead the data engineering team and the BI team to operationalize data, guiding Bitly towards data-driven decisions, and define solutions that shape our future success
• Develop a scalable, long-term vision for Bitly’s data that delivers data governance, data collection and integration, data storage and management, data processing and analysis, data visualization and reporting, and data security
• Provide strategic involvement in data infrastructure planning and proactive guidance and decision making
• Work with engineering and product leadership to develop a process for a centralized approach to event tracking implementation
• Work with key stakeholders to understand their needs and articulate a vision for an internal data platform & BI process that serves those needs
• Communicates and builds relationships effectively at all levels of the company and board as an active member of the global leadership team
• Develop a long term strategy for executive dashboards as well as self-service reporting layers that answer key business questions
• Integrate various sources of data into a holistic data foundation upon which business insights can be built

Who You Are
• You are a seasoned leader with a demonstrated track record of articulating Data strategy and building strong cross-functional teams and relationships
• Ideally you have worked at or are working at a company with over $100MM in annual revenue
• You are an innovative thinker, innately curious, and are eager to explore various perspectives and slices of looking at data to uncover key business insights
• You are able to strike the balance between executing on a roadmap with predictability as well as handle ongoing/ad-hoc requests needed to drive time-sensitive business decisions
• You are a good people manager who can inspire teams and marshal them towards a vision and execute on it
• You are a strong collaborator with excellent communication skills

The Role

Who You Are
• 7+ years of relevant Security experience and 2+ years Management experience
• Startup and SaaS experience with a passion and desire to be hands-on
• Hands on practical experience AWS/GCP Cloud Security, network security, product security or security operations center (e.g. red vs. blue teams)
• Experience developing Information Security Management System programs (e.g. product security, vulnerability management, security operations center)
• Expertise in Global Privacy law compliance, GDPR, and PCI
• Intimate Knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as NIST and COBIT, ISO/IEC 27001, ITIL
• Experience implementing systems and processes that ensure compliance with data privacy and information security policies
• Strong communication skills and a team player mentality with a proven track record of building strong relationships with management, co-workers and customers
• Experience successfully representing the security function externally, such as to customers and partners
• Ability to move at a high velocity and go the extra mile making the right tradeoffs between speed and quality
