The Department of Geosciences at Boise State University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Geography, with expertise in Geospatial Information Systems, beginning August 2023. The Department has expertise in satellite- and drone-based optical, lidar, and radar remote sensing techniques, digital signal processing, geostatistics, and scientific computing. Faculty from within the Department and other departments at the university that are affiliated with the new School of the Environment have expertise in physical and social geography, climate change, public health, and beyond. We welcome candidates excited to foster new research collaborations while building a teaching portfolio within a Departmental community that values inclusive and equitable learning and scholarship.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will lead the instruction of four courses in the academic 2023-2024 year: an introductory geography course (GEOG101) and a combined advanced undergraduate/graduate-level geographic information systems course (GEOG 360/GEOG 560), each of which is offered in fall and spring semesters.

Minimum qualifications:
• A Ph.D. in the field of geosciences is required.

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience or strong interest in supporting student success through the use of current technologies and evidence-based instructional practices;
• Experience or strong interest in supporting student success through an accessible, inclusive, and equitable learning environment;
• Evidence of expertise and research experience in physical geography or related geospatial science
• Experience using Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) tools to conduct research in geography and geospatial sciences.

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Director, Corporate Strategic Partnerships will develop relationships with corporate and university leaders to identify partnership opportunities of mutual interest to benefit Boise State University through sponsorships or philanthropic gifts.

This position will develop and initiate Boise State’s campus-wide sponsorship program in partnership with the Executive Director, the VPA, Directors of Development, and others across campus. Activity will include identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and servicing corporate sponsorships and philanthropic gifts.

Essential Functions:

60% of Time the Director, Corporate Strategic Partnerships must:
• Develop relationships with business leaders, understand their goals, and present opportunities to generate gifts and revenue for Boise State.
• Work with university leadership, colleges, and athletics to understand university priorities that will attract corporate funding and determine whether a sponsorship and/or philanthropic gift is the best strategy for maximizing funding opportunities for Boise State.
• Identify and package university assets to offer sponsorship packages.
• Work with university leadership and advancement development directors to create sponsorship packages, including the assets, and the university division/college/unit where revenue will be applied.
• Create and maintain policies and procedures for corporate sponsorships.

35% of Time the Director, Corporate Strategic Partnerships must:
• Manage sponsorship accounts receivables and other business activity related to sponsorships contracts.
• Negotiate, formalize, and execute sponsorship package agreements and gift agreements for legal review in tandem with university general counsel.
• Work with university marketing and communications to create sponsorship packages that work within the universities brand strategies and signage policies.

5% of Time the Director, Corporate Strategic Partnerships must perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Ability to apply best practices in both sponsorship and philanthropic gift trends to maximize funding for Boise State.
• The ability to develop relationships with corporate leaders, understand their core business, and understand their brand and community goals.
• The ability to work across university divisions and departments to create a successful sponsorship program and philanthropic gift strategies.
• Experience in setting valuations of assets appropriate for sponsorship packages.

The Graduate Recruiting Specialist is responsible for marketing Boise State to prospective students, with a special focus on students traditionally underserved in higher education.
Department Overview:

The Graduate College at Boise State University is soliciting applications for a Recruiting Specialist, a full-time, professional staff position within the Graduate College. This position reports directly to the Dean of the Graduate College. The Recruiting Specialist is responsible for managing all centrally-coordinated graduate recruiting and recruitment-related marketing activities for the Graduate College, and serves as the primary campus-wide liaison between prospective students and graduate programs. The responsibilities of the Recruiting Specialist include university and program marketing, advising on the design of program recruitment websites, and working directly with faculty members in graduate programs. The Recruiting Specialist will support program coordinators and graduate faculty, promoting best practices across the university. The Recruiting Specialist may be asked to represent Boise State at graduate school fairs and recruitment events, but more often will help to coordinate faculty representation, and to prepare faculty participants for such events. As needed, the person in this position will work with prospective students and assist them through the enrollment process, present in large and small group settings, and build strong working relationships with prospective students, graduate program coordinators and faculty, and university and external partners.
Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Essential Functions:

60% of Time the Recruiting Specialist will:
• Counsel, advise, recruit and maintain personalized contact with prospective students and their families.
• Represent Boise State at recruiting events throughout designated recruitment territories and on-campus events.
• Independently develop recruitment strategy, including reviewing and analyzing data to determine schools, fairs, and events to attend/visit; and reviewing and analyzing data to effectively recruit students to meet University goals.
• Independently schedule visits to high schools, coordinate pre-visit calls and correspondence, make travel arrangements, conduct visits, and follow up with students, faculty, and staff contacted during visits via phone calls, letters, and email.
• Build and maintain relationships and serve as University liaison to high school counselors, parents, and alumni in territories.
• Initiate, plan, and execute event programming and special projects based on a specific territory or recruitment area in an environment that provides a high level of autonomy.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies in specified territories and determine the need for additional efforts.
• Present to large and small groups of counselors, students and parents.
• Model a positive customer service ethic.
• Support initiatives outlined in the Admissions recruitment plan and perform other duties as assigned.
