Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role located in Melbourne, FL, for a Development Coordinator - Special Events/Grants. The Development Coordinator-Special Events/Grants supports the overall development and relationship building efforts of the Foundation to raise funds for school and Foundation programs. Grant goals include managing existing and securing new grants. Special event goals include working with committees and/or stakeholders in the creation, planning, execution and follow-through of the Foundation’s established fundraising, and recognition events.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or related field
• Minimum three years related work experience; Evidence of successful event and sponsorship development; Previous nonprofit experience a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Proficiency in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite preferred. Must be able to work in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with One Cause fundraising software desirable.
• Experience using donor database; Raiser’s Edge preferred.
• Excellent writing, presentation, and organization skills.
• High energy, creative thinker.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Background screening and drug test required.

Performance Responsibilities – Essential Functions:
Special Events
• Plans, executes and assists with all aspects of internal and external events coordination, including logistics, collateral, communications, event production and décor, guest lists, sponsorship development and vendor coordination to meet the quality and budget expectations of each event. Special events include an annual gala, golf tournament, ABC Awards recognition event, annual raffle.
• Develop and maintain event budgets and provide administrative support and logistics related to each event including mailings, acknowledgements, updating database, event calendar and committee reports.
• Procure auction items and coordinate volunteer support for event committees. Assist with supervision of event volunteers and coordinators on specific events. Provide administrative support for volunteer committees.
• Manage event sponsorship process including sponsorship collateral creation, cultivating existing sponsors, identifying new sponsors, management of committee and staff to assist in securing sponsorship, securing in-kind sponsorship, sponsorship activation activities, and providing proof of performance.
• Assist staff with donor cultivation events.
• Evaluate events for ROI, research and recommend improvements to existing events or propose new events.
• Represent the Foundation at planning committee meetings, events and promotional activities as requested.
• Participate in Foundation activities and events when deemed appropriate by President/CEO.
Grants
• Maintains accountability for aspects of grant work.
• Writes and manages existing grants; tracks progress towards goals, submits interim and final reports, collects information, maintains data on deadlines, works with accounting staff on budget information. Manages relationships with funders and school personnel.
• Develops new grant funds; researches opportunities, identifies educational needs and seeks internal partners for grant applications. Also, seeks funding for general operating support.
Performance Responsibilities – Other: Perform other incidental tasks or service consistent with the job goal of this position.
Physical Requirement: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and be on feet for prolonged periods of time during events.
Work Environment: The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
Term of Service: 12-month position full-time, some evenings and weekends possible during events.
